Obituary

Funeral services for Edward Black Cloud, 75, of McLaughlin, will be at 10 AM, Friday, August 9, 2024, at the Little Eagle Blue Gym. Burial will be at the All Nations Veterans Cemetery under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge. A procession will leave the funeral home at 5 PM for wake services at 7 PM at the gym. Edward passed away Wednesday, July 31, 2024, at St. Alexius Medical Center in Bismarck.

Edward was born on December 21, 1948 to Vivian Archambault and Peter Black Cloud in Little Eagle, SD. He was loved and blessed to have many family members. He spent his younger years in Little Eagle, SD, and Rapid City, SD. He then moved to Phoenix, AZ, where he met his loving wife, Donna Black Cloud. He enlisted in the Army and was a Vietnam Veteran.

Luigi had the privilege of working for his Tribe for several decades. In 1983, he began to work for the MR&I/Water & Sewer department, where he worked for over 30 years. Luigi loved to be around people and was very social and loving and caring to everyone he met. His love of visiting with people and desire to stay active pushed him to return to work. The past 7 years he enjoyed working with his Grand River Casino family.

In the early 80s, Luigi helped start the Sitting Bull Sundance. He was known as Lovable Luigi. He had very fond memories of his time at the Sundance. He was blessed to work with the loving guidance and friendship of Pete Catches & family, Isaac Dog Eagle & family, Virgil Taken Alive & family, Victor Brave Thunder & family, Earl Bullhead & family, Deloris Taken Alive, Walter Taken Alive, Maynard TA, Tony Bobtail Bear, Kevin Locke & Family. Sitting Bull Sundance grew over the years and Luigi was honored to have prayed and danced with many people.

Luigi is survived by his loving wife, Donna Black Cloud; children: David (Lisa) Black Cloud, Nadine (Morgan) Yellow, Violet (Jeff) Schmeichel, Taylor Black Cloud; Hunka family Taylor Bingham. He was the oldest of 11 siblings: Bobby Black Cloud, Pam (Jeff) Marmorstien, Maribel Gerry, Charlotte (Jo) Carey, Willie John Gerry, Brian Gerry, and Doug (Hilda) Long.

Luigi was proceeded in death by his parents and siblings; Victor Brave Thunder, Joann, Paula, Woody, and Francine.
