Funeral services for Edith Long Feather, 82, of McLaughlin will be at 1 PM, CT, Monday, November 13, 2017 at Good Shepherd Episcopal Church, rural Little Eagle. Burial will be in the church cemetery under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge. Visitation will start at 6 PM Sunday with a prayer service at 7 PM at the funeral home. Edith passed away Friday, November 3, 2017 at Sanford Medical Center in Bismarck.
Edith Ella Dog Eagle Long Feather was born on June 5, 1935, at the Little Oak Creek, SD to Margaret Iron Cloud and Amos Dog Eagle.
She attended grade school in Little Eagle, SD, and attended high school in Fort Yates, ND. She also attended Cook Christian Training School in Tempe, AZ.
She often shared her childhood memories with her children and grandchildren. In her younger years she enjoyed riding horse with friends, Maggie and Trevian and her nieces, Imogene and Delores. Mom also had fond memories of her parents, other siblings, Good Shepherd Episcopal Church. Her parents firmly believed in the Christian faith, which they instilled in her. Mom taught her children many traditions, which they are teaching their children. She was currently the church treasurer.
Edith enjoyed playing bingo, making star quilts, baking pies and most of all having family dinners at her home. She will be greatly missed by her children and grandchildren.
Mom and her first cousin Vernon Iron Cloud were the last surviving members of their Iron Cloud Tiospaye families and she thought the world of him.
Most recently, December of 2016, she lost her daughter Cheryl. Cheryl's passing took its toll on her. Cheryl was her rock.
Edith is survived by her first cousin Vernon Iron Cloud, 3 daughters, Ann (Verdell) Bobtail Bear, Melinda (Bill) Mutchler, and Lila (Roman) Silk, Grandchildren, Saul and Sierra, Kelsey, Ashley, Samuel, Laura, Romaira, Romani, Thomasine, Marietta, Mason, Gerty, Ronald Jr. (Nupa), Four Grandchildren, Taylon, Doran, Kaleb and Thomia,nieces and nephews, Cari (Mike) Montoya, Barry (Kim) Eagle, Lisa (Stan) Atcitty.
She was preceded in death by her husband Thomas Long Feather Sr., Sons, James William, Samuel John, Ronald David, Thomas Everette, Daughter, Cheryl Margaret, Granddaughters Sadie Frances Ellan, Margaret Trudel, her parents, brothers and sisters.
Casketbearers are Bill Mutchler, Samuel Long Feather, Saul Long Feather, Ronald Long Feather Jr., Truby Hairy Chin, Terry Martinez, Roman Silk, and Jasper Iron Cloud.
Honorary Pall Bearers: Valerie Archambault, Thevian Hairy Chin, Lucia Hairy Chin, Kenneth Red Bear, Beatrice Skinner, Vernon and Theo Iron Cloud, and Helene Circle Eagle.
