Memorial service for Doug Scott age 79 of Timber Lake, will be 10:00 AM Saturday. May 6, 2017 at the United Parish Church in Timber Lake. Inurnment will be in the Timber Lake Cemetery under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge. Prayer service will be 7:00 PM Friday, May 5, 2017 at the United Parish Church. Doug passed Friday, December 30, 2016 at his home in Mesa, AZ.
Douglas Gerald Scott was born August 31, 1937 in Mobridge, South Dakota, the son of Dale and Jessie (Sheffer) Scott.
He spent his early years in Timber Lake, South Dakota with his parents and sister and two brothers. He graduated from Timber Lake High School in 1955. He enlisted in the army in September of 1955 and was discharged in 1957.
He married Ardith Carlson on May 27, 1960. To this union, three sons and two daughters were born.
He worked for various electrical power companies and started his own electrical power company (Scott's Construction, Inc.) in 1971. He worked for several Electric Cooperatives in the area building power lines. In 1983, he sold the construction company to Jim Boldt.
Doug's heart was in the Timber Lake community. He worked on the Timber Lake Development Corporation and other committees to help Timber Lake.
Doug is survived by his wife, Ardith, three sons, Keith (Marilyn) Scott of Gettysburg, South Dakota; Arlen (Ann) of Aberdeen, South Dakota and Jason of Le Mars, Ia. Two daughters, Terri (Gerald) Hodges of Bethel Alaska and Shari (Eric) Graham of Cambridge, MN. Sixteen grandchildren. One brother, Ed (Wally) Scott of Gilbert, AZ, one sister in law Nancy Scott of Rapid City, South Dakota.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, David and one sister, Mickey Shorthill.
