Funeral services for Dorothy Schilling age 90 of Mobridge will be 2:00 PM Thursday, September 8, 2016 at United Congregational Church in Mobridge. Interment will be in the Greenwood Cemetery under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge. Visitation will be Wednesday, September 7, 2016 starting at 5:00 PM with a prayer service at 7:00 PM at Kesling Funeral Home. Dorothy passed away Thursday, September 1, 2016 at the Golden Living Center.
Dorothy was born March 1, 1926, the oldest of 3 children to David and Lydia (Weiszhaar) Huber. She grew up south of Akaska attending rural school through the 8th grade.
Dorothy married Edwin Schilling on May 28, 1942. They made their home on a farm near Akaska, SD. In 1944 they moved to Akaska. In 1965 they moved to Mobridge and they bought the West Side Lockers on West Grand Crossing and operated it until 1982.
She enjoyed cooking for her kids and grandchildren and received many compliments. She also enjoyed watching the Minnesota Twins and the Chicago Cubs on Television.
For several years she and 'Schmoo' wintered in Morristown, AZ, where her sister lived.
Dorothy is survived by four sons; Robert (Bonita), Dean (Dixie), Gary, Timothy (Elise) and one brother Clyde (Adele) Huber, 7 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and one great great grandchild, special friend JoLyn Hardcastle.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one sister Ilene and one daughter-in-law Norma.
