Mass of Christian Burial for Dorothy D. Ducheneaux age 88 of Mobridge will be 10:30 AM Monday, October 10, 2016 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Mobridge. Interment will be in the St. Catherine Catholic Cemetery of Promise under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home. Visitation will 3:00 PM Sunday October 9, 2016 at Kesling Funeral Home with a Scripture Wake service at 7:00 PM. Dorothy passed away Wednesday, October 5, 2016 at Good Samaritan Society in Selby.
Dorothy Deloris Ducheneaux was born May 18, 1928 to Fredrick and Ida Rieger of Mobridge.
Mom was called home by our Lord on October 5, 2016. Mom grew up and attended school in Mobridge. She worked varies jobs until she met the love of her life, Allen "Ted" Ducheneaux.
Dorothy and Ted were married on August 3, 1946 and to this union, eight children were born: June, Lynn, Rolland, Micheal, Larry, Deana and Kay. They also adopted two grandchildren Ashley and K.C.. Ted and Dorothy spent their lives on the ranch near Promise. In addition to raising their own children they fostered many children throughout the years. Dorothy resided on the family ranch until 2012 when she moved to Mobridge. In September, 2015 she entered the Good Samaritan Home in Selby.
Dorothy was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She enjoyed playing cards and visiting with family and friends. She was a member of the Catholic Church in Promise for many years and then the Catholic church in Mobridge as well as the Women of the Moose. She loved making homemade jelly for her grandchildren-some of whom said it was the best ever.
Dorothy is survived by her children: June Ledbetter of El Dorado, KS, Lynn Ducheneaux of Mobridge, Rolland (Kathy) Ducheneaux of Tipton, OK, Deana (Tom) Mulloy, of Keystone, SD, and Kay (Terris) Thompson, of Timber Lake, SD, 17 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, her sisters Ione Allerdings, Diane Reed, and Vicki (Lester) Berreth, brother John Rieger, brother-in-law Richard Ducheneaux, sister-in-law Faith (Carl) Hacklemen and many nieces and nephews.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband Ted, sons; Micheal and Larry, parents and in-laws, 2 Son-in-law, 2 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren, 4 brothers, 1 sister, and many sister and brother-in-laws.
