Doris J. "Dola" Halfred Hump, Victory Woman, Ohiyeku Win, was born on August 11, 1948 at Dupree, S.D., to Franklin and Helen (Roach) Halfred. Dola grew up at Rattlesnake east of Red Scaffold.

She enjoyed the cowgirl way of life; horseback riding, fishing, swimming, etc. One of her special memories she mentioned was when her and her brothers would ride horseback and meet up with the Longbrake's, Brown Wolf's, Hollow Horn's, and Charging Eagle's to hang out for the day. They would play rodeo (the girls would barrel race), and go swimming where they would run their horses full blast up to the edge of the cliff and dive into the creek. She had many traditional talents. Dola made her own clothes and for her little sister "Annie" as well. She always kept many traditional values with her as she grew up and up until her time of departure, as well as, knowing and serving the Lord. She emphasized these values to her family, relatives , and friends. Although she very much cherished her family, relatives, and friends...she deeply missed her deceased family and relatives, especially her daughter Danelle Jean.

Dola attended Red Scaffold Day School and went on to Cheyenne-Eagle Butte where she graduated in May of 1967. After graduation she moved to Tempe, Arizona, where she lived with her special cousins Narcisse, Ione, and Iola. She helped care for your nephew Jacob "Chief", and nieces Ruth Ann and Frances Moore. While in Tempe she also attended the Cook Christian School.

In 1980, she married Duane M. Hump and from this marriage they have three daughter's; Danelle Jean, Jenny Rae, and Joni Frankylyn. They raised the girls at the Hump and Halfred Ranch. They loved and supported their daughter's at all their academic and sporting events.

Dola was also blessed to help care for her niece Sissy (she-she) and nephew Bud.
Dola loved and cherished her three beautiful grand-daughter's; Jo'L (Jo Jo) Cecelia, Lily (Bushes) Rose, K'Leigh (K-Sue) Danelle Sue. Together they enjoyed going to play bingo and eating at Linda's Drive Inn at Faith. They loved to take cruzes, as well as, hit all the garage sales. The girls loved their grandma's cooking, especially, Sunday breakfast! Out of everything they did together, most importantly, she made sure the girls had everything they needed.

Her places of employment were at the CRST Head Start Program, CRST CHR Program, Teacher Assistant and Cook at the Red Scaffold Day School, and at the Takini School as a cook. She started getting ill in 2000 and retired from work in 2001.

Dola enjoyed sewing and cooking, and was an "AWESOME" cook. She enjoyed attending all of Jo'L's volleyball and basketball games, therefore, attending all of the C-EB Braves Boys and Girls games. She spent time working on her crossword puzzles, attending powwow's, playing bingo and talking to her friends on her cell phone.
She was very honored to serve as God Mother to Baby Mary Knife, Michon Marshall, Tiffany Chasing Hawk, Lance Whiteman, Jayme Chasing Hawk, Kyle Chasing Hawk, and the late Charlie Chasing Hawk, she loved you all very much.
