Donna Mae Steckman passed away peacefully on August 25, 2023, at Mobridge Regional Hospital.

Donna was born at Herrick, SD on April 12, 1936, to Julius Willuweit and Leah (Stroh) Willuweit. She was number 5 of 16 children. Growing up she attended school in Herrick, SD and graduated from the 8th grade. After her mother's passing, she stayed home to help raise her younger siblings. On December 26, 1955, she and David Steckman were married and to this union four children were born.

David worked for the U.S Army Corps of Engineers, and they traveled with his job. They lived in Texas, Colorado, Nebraska and South Dakota. They settled in Mobridge, South Dakota in 1966 where they made their forever home and raised their children.

Donna had an in-home daycare for a short time, then started working for Ray Lind and eventually Bill Lind at the Coast-to-Coast store in 1970. This led to a lifelong career of 50 Years! She took great pride in being known as the grey-haired paint lady at the hardware store. Over 50 years the Linds became extended family to her.

She made many lifelong friends through her church and spent many hours sharing coffee with her neighbor gals, where they solved many of the world's problems. Donna loved bowling, gardening and taking care of her flowers. She taught Sunday school and was president of the United Methodist Women for many years. Donna wrote in her funeral planning book that they were not rich in material things but rich in Love of her God and Savior and family.

Her love for her family was never ending. She was very proud of each and every one of her grandkids. The last year and a half she spent living with her daughter Patti. The thing that kept her going was her daily visits with the great grand kids. She spent many hours watching the little girls dance and play with baby dolls as well as her older great grandson singing and playing blitz. She probably went out hearing Smash…Smash from a little boy playing Derby cars in her hospital room. She was so proud that the youngest of these great grandkids was named David.

Donna is survived by her daughter Carrie (Harley) Overseth, Patti Feiock, Wanda (Mark) Fuhrer all of Mobridge and Son Jeff (Gail) Steckman of Grand Forks, ND. 7 grandchildren Patrick (Kristin) Feiock, Mathew (Darya) Feiock, Carli (Trent) Goetz, Justice (Rachel) Steckman, Brady Fuhrer, Aaron Steckman, Madison Steckman.  Great grandkids Justin, Devin, Maysie, Evelyn, Cole and David. One Brother Harley (Delia) Willuweit, Sisters, Verdeen Davies, Marva (Bob) Ryther and Barbara Stott.

Donna was proceeded in death by her mother and father, husband David, 8 brothers Winston, Melvin, Eldon, Merle, Dennis, Donald, Gerald, Robert and 3 sisters Darlene Kerner, Arlene Rang and Linda Kumley and Son in Law Dean Feiock.
