Graveside services for Donald R. Olson 70 of Aberdeen will be 11:00 AM Tuesday, June 20, 2017 at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Aberdeen. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge. Donald passed away Thursday June 8, 2017 at Sanford Medical Center in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

Donald Roy Olson was born October 20, 1946 in Webster, South Dakota to Kenneth Roy and Elizabeth Mae (Brokaw) Olson. He grew up with his parents and attended school in Bristol, South Dakota. Don graduated high school in Bristol and then attended and graduated with a degree in math from Northern State University in Aberdeen. He later received his Master's degree in education from South Dakota State University in Brookings.
On August 31, 1968 Donald married Carol Olson in Mobridge, South Dakota. To this union, one daughter, Jackie was born.

Donald began his teaching career in White, South Dakota. Later he taught school in Roscoe and then became principal and superintendent for the Iroquois school system. Don retired and moved to Aberdeen, where he had since resided.

He is survived by his wife Carol of 48 years of Aberdeen, daughter Jackie (Rob), two granddaughters, Morgan and Hannah, three brothers, Richard (Sandra) Olson, James (Deb) Olson, David (Pat) Olson, and one sister, Janet (Kirk) Lardy.

Donald was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.
