Graveside services for Donald R. Hinton age 83 of Isabel will be 1:00 PM MDT Thursday, June 15, 2017 at Hillview Cemetery in Isabel. Interment will be in the Hillview Cemetery under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge. Donald passed away Thursday, June 8, 2017 at his home in Isabel.
Donald was born on February 17, 1934 in Isabel, SD the son of Roy Hinton and Zelma (Jones) Hinton.
He attended school in Isabel and finished high school in Los Angeles, CA. After finishing his education, he joined the Merchant Marines in the mid-50's and saw many parts of the world. Upon returning to California, he began a career as a steel worker in high rise boiler construction, later in his career, he became president of the Boilermakers Union in Nevada, retiring in 1982. Don made his home in Las Vegas and in 2010 bought a home in Isabel and returned there to spend his summers.
Donald' source of joy and pride were his sons. Donald Jr., and David, both of Las Vegas, NV. He was a devoted father and was very happy to speak of his son's accomplishments. Donald was a great encourager to many who were struggling in life. He was a very positive person with a good sense of humor. Donald loved to host friends and shoe them the nights of Las Vegas. He was a generous friend.
Donald is survived by his sons and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a younger brother, David and a younger sister, Winona.
Donald will be interred in Isabel nest to his grandparents, Joe and Laura Jones.
