Obituary

Funeral services for Donald David "Tinker" Annis, age 66, of Eagle Butte will be at 10 AM MT, Friday, September 3, 2010 at the Old Agency Building in Eagle Butte. Burial will be in the Buffalo/Dupree Cemetery in Cherry Creek under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge. An all night wake will be Thursday at 7 PM MT with family and friends meeting at the 4-mile junction at 5 PM. Donald passed away Monday, August 30, 2010 at Med Center One in Bismarck.

Donald David"Tinker" Annis, was born on March 2, 1944 at the Dupree, SD to David and Bertha (Scott) Annis, he spent his elementary years in LaPlante and on the Cheyenne River along Cherry Creek with his Relatives Tinker received his High School Diploma May 1963 from the Cheyenne-Eagle Butte High School he then attended Black Hills State College in Spearfish, SD and attended Northern State College in Aberdeen, SD his studies were in Business Administration. In March 1966 he went into the United States Army and was honorably discharged March 1969, during his tour he was stationed overseas. He received the National Defense Service Medal, Marksman (rifle)

He was united in marriage with Mary Lou Hill on December 9, 1969 they were blessed with one daughter Kimberly Annis. He remarried years later to Monica Lind on December 14, 1991.

Donald was employed with the Indian Health Service for many years during his employment he was a Contract Specialist in Aberdeen Area Office, then he moved back to Eagle Butte where he was a Tribal Councilman for 1 term he then started working as the Cheyenne River Housing Authority Director then an Administrative Officer at the Eagle Butte IHS where he moved into the Acting CEO position until he retired from the IHS and worked for the Cheyenne River Sales and Service until his retirement in 2003.

Donald was an avid rodeo participant, he loved the rodeo life. He participated as a Saddle Bronc and Bareback rider and also was a Calf Roper and Team Roper. He also was an outstanding athlete, in high school he was the captain of the Basketball team, ran track and was the captain of the Football team. He then went on to be an amazing Fastpitch softball player he played all positions including his favorite position as the pitcher, and was an amazing pitcher. He also loved Golfing, Hunting and Fishing. Donald has a lot of hobbies and loved doing them.

Donald is survived by one brother: Sammy Annis of Pierre, SD; Daughter Kim Annis of Aberdeen SD, Granddaughter Bree'N Annis of Aberdeen, SD, Aunts: Margaret(Annis) Eagle Staff of Eagle Butte,SD, Gene (Annis) Burgee of Dupree, SD, Nephews; Kory Annis, Blue Annis, Clinton Stadel, Shawn Stadel, Mike Moran, Randy Hill, Casey Dupris, Shane Cook, Nieces Kelly Annis, Calli (Dupris) Thompson, Lisa (White Bear) Adams, Stephanie Hill, and Jacque Hill.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, grandparents, uncles, aunts, cousins and Nephew Marty Stadel.
