Obituary
Mass of Christian Burial for Dion L. Knife, 39, of Eagle Butte will be 10 AM MT Saturday, November 19 at All Saints Catholic Church, Eagle Butte. Burial will be at the Dupris Family Cemetery under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge. All night wake service will start Friday at 6 PM with a rosary at 7 PM. Procession will meet at four mile junction at 5 PM. Dion entered the spirit world on Friday, November 11, 2011.
Dion L. Knife was born September 13, 1972 to Ted Knife Sr., and Elverna Dupris in Eagle Butte, SD. Dion attended grade school in Red Scaffold, SD and graduated from Takini High School in May of 1990. He was a member of the Presidential Class and was sent to Washington, DC. He was also an honor roll student throughout school. Dion played basketball in high school, he got to attend the Denver Basketball Classic Regionals that the Cheyenne Housing Authority sponsored in 1990. Dion then went on to attended Black Hills State University for one year.
He worked for the CRST Sanitary Landfill and Food Distribution Programs. He was also a driver for BH Dialysis. Dion also enjoyed working and helping out with ranch hand work, such as branding, cutting horses, feeding livestock, fixing fence, vaccinating cattle, and pregnancy testing cows. He was helpful where he was needed.
Dion always had a good sense of humor, teasing, and laughing with family and friends. He enjoyed playing pool and horse shoes.
Dion is survived by his daughter Shayanne Rose Knife of Oklahoma City, OK, Mother Elverna Dupris of Eagle Butte, Step Mother Peggy Knife of Eagle Butte, Brothers Ted (Dolly Jo) Knife, Jr., Randall (Stacie) Knife, and Wendell (Joey) Knife, Sisters Georgette Knife, Mary Knife, JoBeth Dupris, and Otis Garter.
He is preceded in death by his Father Ted Knife, Sr., Aunties Darlene Young Bear and Viola Charging Cloud, Paternal Grandparents George and Mary (Halfred) Knife, Maternal Grandparents Percy, Sr. and Rose Dupris.
