Obituary
Funeral services for Diane Pateneaude, age 64, of Timber Lake will be at 10 AM MT, Wednesday, August 1, 2012 at the United Parish in Timber Lake. Burial will be at the Timber Lake Cemetery under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge. Visitation will start at 5 PM Tuesday with a prayer service at 7:30 at the church. Diane passed away Tuesday, July 24, 2012 at St. Alexius Hospital in Bismarck.
Diane Marie Pateneaude was born on October 17, 1947 in Wolford, ND to Fred and Pearl Owens. She attended elementary school in York and Wolford, ND. In 1966 she graduated from Knox High School. After high school she worked at Heart of America Medical Center as a nurses aide.
In 1970 she met Lloyd Pateneaude, they moved to a farmstead southwest of Knox. Later on they moved to South Dakota. They lived on a farmstead south of Timber Lake. Lloyd worked for a farmer/rancher and Diane worked at the Timber Lake School as a teacher's aide. After that she began making quilts for Missouri Breaks Industries. She loved crocheting, embroidering and making quilts. Everything she made was very beautiful and won awards.
She enjoyed gardening, reading, doing crosswords puzzles, fishing, playing bingo and putting puzzles together. She also enjoyed visiting and watching her grandchildren.
Grateful for having shared her life were her three sons; Barry (Teena) Pateneaude, Jody Pateneaude of Timber Lake, and Jamey (Tara) Pateneaude of Selby, one daughter; Cindy (Gene) Zabel of Selby; eleven grandchildren; Cole, Jade, Amanda, Ali, Austin, Skyler, Ty, Clay, Porter, Sierra and JD, mother, Pearl Owens of Rugby, ND, two brothers, Rick (Sandy) Owens of Jamestown, ND, Larry (Patty) Owens of Breckenridge, MN, three sisters; Vicki Sleighbough of IN, Bobby (Chuck) Welk of CO and Jackie (Brent) Cassavant of Red Lake Falls, MN and numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death was her father, Fred, brother, Terry Owens and sister, Penny Voeller.
Casketbearers are Barry Pateneaude, Jody Pateneaude, Jamey Pateneaude, Cindy Zabel, Cole Pateneaude, Jade Pateneaude, and Austin Pateneaude.
