Funeral services for Dennis "Packy" Naasz, 81, of Mobridge will be at 2 PM, Friday, November 27, 2020, at Zion Lutheran Church in Mobridge. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge. Visitation will start at 10 AM Friday at the church. Packy passed away Friday, November 20, 2020, at Sanford Medical Center in Bismarck.
Dennis Lee Naasz was born on September 11, 1939, in Mobridge to Emil and Lydia (Landis) Naasz. He was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church in Mobridge where he was a lifetime member. He graduated from Mobridge High School in 1957. While in high school Packy, was quite the football player. He was number 44, a number that he was fond of the rest of his life. Following high school, Packy joined the Army National Guard. Packy worked for the South Dakota Highway Dept. before starting his career for the City of Mobridge, Street Dept. Packy retired after thirty years working for the city in 1996 as Street Superintendent. He was proud of retiring early. Packy was kind of a big deal in Mobridge.
Packy was a member of the Mobridge Volunteer Fire Dept. for many years. He was very active in the fire department until 2004. Packy had quite the collection of guns, knives, coins, and antiques. He had a place on the south side of Mobridge he called Packy's Paradise for his antique cars and military vehicles. He was a proud member of the NRA and loved to garden and cook. The little kids in the family always liked visiting Packy and looked forward to the $2 bills and candy he would give them.
Packy loved life. He was a kind, considerate and generous man. He loved his Lord and family. Packy walked in faith with his Lord and was an example of the attributes of the Spirit in Galatians; Charity, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness, Goodness, Forbearance, Gentleness, Faith, Modesty, and Self-Control, and Chastity.
Dennis is survived by one brother, Larry (Betty) Naasz of Mandan, two sisters, Alice Naasz Stangl of Mobridge and Sheila Naasz Struxness of Mobridge, 11 nieces and nephews, 26 great nieces and nephews, 6 great-great nieces and nephews and his cat, Meow.
He is preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Allie May and Caroline Jean, and a brother-in-law, Mitch Struxness.
