Funeral services for Delores Mae Long Elk, 66, of Mandan, ND, will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 23, 2015, at the Bullhead Community Center. A procession will leave Thursday at 5:00 p.m from the funeral home and the All Night Wake begins at 6:00 p.m. at the community center. Burial will be held at Pine-Little Eagle Cemetery directed by Kesling Funeral Home. Delores passed away on January 18, 2015, at her home in Mandan.

Delores was born on November 4, 1948, in Bullhead, SD, to Chauncey and Ether Irene (Flying Horse) Long Elk. She was raised in Bullhead and attended both the Bullhead and McIntosh High Schools. Later in life she went on to attend United Tribes where she completed a clerical program.

Delores loved to sew and she regularly made star quilts for friends and family. She also was devoted to her family and helped raise four of her grandchildren, Michael Chauncey Bull Bear, Miles Bull Bear, Dawn Ursula Bull Bear, and Sheldon War Bonnet.

Throughout her life she lived in Bullhead, McIntosh, Minneapolis, and, at the time of her death, Mandan. While in Mandan she was a member of the Congregational Church.

Delores was survived by her children, Candace (Daniel) DeRockbraine Folley, Gordon Wayaus and Ursula Wayaus; her mother, Ethel Irene Long Elk; 12 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; her sisters, Celeste Long Elk and Marsha Long Elk; and her brother, Julian Long Elk.

She was preceded in death by her father, Chauncey Long Elk; her brothers, Owen Fights Lone, Wesley Long Elk and Terrance Long Elk; her sister, Edwina Long Elk; and her daughter, Baby Wayaus.
