Delila Joan Buechler - Devoted mother
Delila Joan Buechler, 89, passed away peacefully Tuesday, April 12, 2022 at Mobridge Regional Hospital surrounded by her family.
Delila Joan (Hauck) Buechler was born on December 1st, 1932 in McLaughlin, South Dakota to Henry and Elsie Hauck. She attended McLaughlin High School and graduated in 1943.
On August 2nd, 1950 she married Clarence Buechler in McLaughlin. For most of the marriage they made their home in McLaughlin aside from a year spent in Minnesota and a short period in Montana. This union birthed seven children: Della, Terry, Gloria, Diane, Michael, Wayne and Myron.
Delila spent a number of years working beside her husband and sons for Young Incorporated in the farming department. She worked there until Clarence passed away on February 4th, 1981.
She began working at the McLaughlin School as a janitor shortly after. She worked at the school for several years and after retiring she helped at the McLaughlin Messenger for a few years. It seems she was always working on something.
In her spare time, Delila enjoyed working on her embroidery projects. She made a lot of tea towels, blankets and pillowcases for her friends and family. In her younger years, she enjoyed dancing. She also loved her Polka Party and Molly B.
She was very active in the community; she volunteered with the Rodeo Committee, the Fun Day committee, and the Centennial Committee. She was very active in the church, helping with communion and the offering every Sunday. She also enjoyed the opportunities she had to help Della decorate for baby showers, weddings, and funerals. During the fall and winter evenings, you would often see Delila sitting front row in the high school gymnasium at basketball games.
She was well known for her loving heart and her compassion and will be greatly missed by her family and the community.
Delila is preceded in death by her parents Henry and Elsie Hauck, husband Clarence Buechler, sister Delores Friez, grandchildren; Tonya Lee Keller, Jason Keller, Hope Buechler great-grandchildren; Joseph Comeau, and Michael Comeau.
