Obituary

Funeral services for Rev. Delbert Bock, 81, of Isabel will be at 10:30 AM, Friday, October 6, 2023, at the Isabel Community Center. Burial will be at Hillview Cemetery under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge. Visitation will be one hour prior to services. Delbert passed away Saturday, September 30, 2023, at Monument Health Hospital in Rapid City.

Delbert Gene Bock was born on January 9, 1942, to Albert Alfred Bock and Bernice Klarinsa (Lien) Bock in Bradley SD. Shortly after Delbert was born his parents moved to the Isabel/Firesteel SD area where he attended elementary school, eventually graduating from Eagle Butte High School.

Shortly after graduation, Delbert moved to Sioux Falls, SD where he had several different jobs.  While in Sioux Falls, SD, he met his future wife, Shirley Ann Disbrow. Delbert and Shirley were married on August 16, 1969.

After they were married, Delbert accepted a ministerial position at The Church of God of Prophecy in Pierre, SD. While living in Pierre, they were blessed with 3 children: Brian, Kendal, and Teresa.

In 1984, Delbert moved the family to Hazen, ND where he could continue his ministry, following in the footsteps of his father. He pastored at the local church until October of 1988. Delbert felt compelled to move his family to Isabel, SD to help his dad with the farm and local church, eventually taking over the pastoral duties when his dad stepped down. He also worked at Locken Oil delivering fuel and propane, which allowed him to continue his ministry to the local community.

Throughout his life, Delbert had many ups and downs including losing his mother at a young age, but he never wavered in his faith.  He made friends easily and brought a smile to those he encountered. God has been faithful in miracle after miracle protecting and healing him. His presence will be missed, but the memories and example of his faith will live on.

Delbert had lots of hobbies. Some of his favorite pastimes were hunting and fishing and spending time with his family.  If anybody knew him, especially when he was younger, knew that he loved cars; especially sports cars.

He is survived by his wife: Shirley Bock of Isabel; his children Brian and Joni Bock of Black Hawk, SD, Kendal and Kimberly Bock of Harrisburg, SD and Teresa and Terry Russell of Isabel, SD, his grandchildren; Brian and Tabitha Perli of Rapid City, Tayler and Kami Perli of Piedmont, Whitney (McGreevy) and Tyler Bauer of Sioux Falls, Kayla McGreevy of Sioux Falls, Kirby and Skyler (Whitten) McGreevy of Sioux Falls and Courtney (McGreevy) and Alex Steffan also from Sioux Falls, Kwinsy and Trevor Russell of Isabel. He also had 10 great grandchildren and his siblings, Luann and Kedrick Johnson and Diane and Eugene Geigle. Delbert was also blessed to have a very big and loving extended family.

Delbert was proceeded in death by his both his parents, Albert and Bernice, his stepmom Rachel, and his brother David.
