Mass of Christian Burial for Dean St. John, age 51, of Kenel will be at 11 AM CT on Thursday, December 6, 2012 at the Catholic Church of Assumption in Kenel. Burial will be in the church cemetery under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge. Visitation will start at 5 PM Wednesday with services at 7 PM at the church. Dean passed away November 30, at Sanford Medical Center in Bismarck, ND.

Dean Colby St. John, Tasunke Peta Uniyun (Paints his horse with fire) son of Elaine St. John (Left Hand) and the late Alvord St. John Sr. began his journey to the spirit world on Friday November 30, 2012 at the Sanford Medical Center, Bismarck North Dakota.

Dean was born on June 22, 1961 in Chamberlain South Dakota and was a member of the Crow Creek Nation. Dean attended the Standing Rock Elementary and High Schools, 1st through the 11th grade, later attending and graduating from Crow Creek High School, Stephan South Dakota in May 1980. He then worked for the Crow Creek tribe, married Jacqueline Crow of which they have two children, Terry and Keri St. John.

Dean is survived by his mother Elaine, (Kenel SD), children Terry St. John Sr, Keri St. John, three grandchildren, Terry St. John Jr., Aleeyah St. John and Justine St. John all of Crow Creek South Dakota. Two sisters Eunice St. John (Crow Creek, SD), Lavonne (Gordon) White Bull (Long Soldier ND), Lance, Sterling (Donna), Kirby St. John, (Kenel SD) Verl and Tad Walking Elk (Kenel SD), many nieces, nephews and relatives.
