Mass of Christian Burial for David Yellow Earrings Sr., age 69, of Bullhead will be at 1 PM CT, Saturday, November 2, 2013 at St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Bullhead. Burial will be at the church cemetery under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge. An all night wake will start at 7 PM Friday at the church. David passed away Tuesday, October 22, 2013 at the Mobridge Regional Hospital.
John was born May 19, 1944 to James & Mary (Yellow Hawk) Yellow Earrings in a small community called Black Horse, which he was very proud of. He was a quiet, humble man with a kind heart. The family moved to Bullhead where he attended grade school. John attended McIntosh Public High School where he was active in Basketball & Track, he and his friend Homer White Buffalo had a track record which was just recently broken. He graduated from McIntosh High School in 1962, he married his high school sweetheart, Mary Rose Shoestring on October 11, 1965. John and his family moved to Denver, Co. in 1967 in the Relocation Program then moved back to Bullhead, SD in 1969. John then applied for the Future Indian Teachers Program at UND in Grand Forks, ND and attended from 1970-1974 for coaching.
He ws coach at Bullhead Day School from mid to late 70's. In the late 70's to early 80's John and family moved to Aberdeen, SD and worked at the 3M Company. The family then moved back to Bullhead. John lost his wife Mary Rose to an automobile accident in 1981, years later he met and married Regina Tuske and lived in Fort Yates, ND after she passed away he remained a widowed cowboy, and lived the remainder of his life with his sons; Elston and Joe and grandson; Jerome in Bullhead.
He is survived by his children, one daughter; Tamara (Scott) Big Eagle, Bullhead, SD,
four sons; Edgar, Ca, Elston Bullhead, Joe Bullhead and Dana (Shannon) Yellow Earrings, Bullhead, one brother; Matthew Yellow Earrings, Bullhead. Grandchildren; Shyla Yellow Earrings, Dana & Dawn Otter Robe, Samantha Yellow Earrings, Dave and Dana Yellow Earrings and Jerome Yellow Earrings. One great-granddaughter; Kaiyah LeClair, numerous cousins, nieces and nephews and grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Mary (Running Hawk) Yellow Earrings, his wives; Mary Rose Yellow Earrings, and Regina Tuske Yellow Earrings one daughter; Danae and one son; Jerome Yellow Earrings. Brothers George Archambault, James, Luke, Lloyd, Francis and one sister Darlene Rampersad and one great granddaughter; Amiyah Talley.
