Funeral services for David "Butch" Thompson, 71, of Timber Lake, SD, will be 11:00 AM Friday, Nov. 13, 2015 at the Timber Lake Community Center. Burial will be in St. Mary's Episcopal Cemetery in Promise under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge. Visitation will be Thursday, Nov. 12, 2015 from 4PM to 7PM with a prayer service at 7PM at the funeral home. Butch passed away on Sunday, November 8, 2015, at the Mobridge Regional Hospital of Mobridge, SD.
David was born November 25, 1943 at the Old Cheyenne Agency to Max and Phoebe (HandBoy) Thompson. He attended school at the Old Cheyenne Agency until the 10th grade.
He married Judy Demery on August 1962 they were married 3 times.
He worked on several ranches east of Mobridge, one he enjoyed working for was the late Rudy and Cora Sandmeier. He got along with their sons very well (Stan and Wayne).
He also worked for the Sanitation in Eagle Butte and rural areas.
He liked to do puzzles, he would walk 3 times every day. He liked talking to people. He played Softball, Horseshoes and Pool in his younger years and was known for his Pool Playing. He kept up with his exercises. He enjoyed Western movies, Football and Wheel of Fortune. He enjoyed having a nice cheeseburger.
He was a great man of Faith, Exercise and Forgiveness.
David is survived by his wife, Judy (Demery) Thompson, daughter, Janet Thompson, grandson Jerl Thompson, three sisters, Julie Weninger, Grace Thompson, Ethel Tess (Mel) Schatz, half-brother, Larry Thompson, half-sister, Hilda (Tom) Ducheneaux.
David was preceded in death by his father Max Thompson, Sr., Mother Irene Phoebe (HandBoy) Thompson, Max Jr., Vincent, Casey, Dallas, Jackie, and Dale, sisters, Andrea and Louise, one grandchild Cody.
