Funeral services for David Spiry, age 61, of Glenham will be at 11 AM, Thursday, January 24, 2013 at St. Jacobi Lutheran Church in Glenham. Burial will be at the Glenham Cemetery under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge. Visitation will be from 3-7 PM Wednesday, at the funeral home with a prayer service at 7 PM. David passed away Saturday, January 19, 2013 at Avera St. Luke's Hospital in Aberdeen.
David Raymond Spiry was born on September 27, 1951 in Mobridge to Raymond and Elenora (Horst) Spiry. In 1954 his family moved to Raymond, MN until 1958 when they moved to Clara City, MN. David graduated from Clara City High School in 1971 and attended Vo-Tech in Moorhead, MN. He then returned to Clara City, MN and worked as a welder for Dahl Industry in Spicer, MN. He then returned and attended Vo Tech and took up welding. Upon his return he worked at America Continental welding shop making golf carts and Al Ray Trailers in Raymond, MN. He moved to Glenham in 1985 and started working for Gibsons & Alco until his passing.
David was an avid Harley-Davidson rider for over 30 years with his brother Joel. He made numerous trips to Devils Tower and Yellowstone and looked forward to attending the Sturgis Rally. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, spending time with his family and playing softball at the family gatherings. David loved sports and taught his nephews how to catch.
He is survived by his brother, Joel of Glenham, sister, Linda (Loren) Weers of Aberdeen, three nephews, Chris Weers of Aberdeen, Mitchell (Jen) Weers of Rosemount, MN, and Matthew Weers & special friend Jill of Moorhead, MN, two great nieces, Julia and Ayla and a great nephew, Mitchell Jr.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
