Funeral services for Darwin Lutz, 63, of Mobridge will be at 10:30 AM, Friday, July 9, 2021, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Mobridge. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge. Visitation will start 4 PM Thursday with a prayer service at 7 PM at the funeral home. Darwin passed away Sunday, July 4, 2021 at Sanford Medical Center in Bismarck.

Darwin Fred Lutz was born May 24, 1958, in Mobridge to Fred and Millie (Holzwarth) Lutz. He grew up on a farm near Lowry, SD, and attended Lowry School until it closed and then Selby School. Before Darwin's junior year of school his family moved to Mobridge where he graduated from Mobridge High School in 1977. Following High School, he went to USD Springfield for Auto Body. After receiving his degree, he returned to Mobridge and starting working at Lee and Jundt for the next 16 years. He then started working at the Chevy garage where he remained until his passing.

On April 3, 1982, Darwin married Deb Hintz at Trinity Lutheran Church in Mobridge. They made Mobridge their home for the next 39 years. Darwin was very active in trapshooting, which he helped run, the Mobridge Archery group, Beef and Fun Car Show, and the Moose pool league. He enjoyed hunting, being on his motorcycle, and photography. He always had his camera and was ready to take the perfect shot whenever mother nature provided it. Darwin was defiantly a handy man. Whether it was carpentry, plumbing, or electricity he could do it or fix it. He always stayed busy and working on something. He took excellent pride in his work and wanted everything just perfect.

Besides his love for the Seattle Seahawks his love for his family including his brothers and sisters and especially his grandchildren were unmatched. Anytime there was an event of theirs he could go to he would to support and spend time with them.

Darwin is survived by his wife, Deb of Mobridge, son, Nathan (Kari) Lutz of Harrisburg, daughter, Carrie (Tyler) Getz of Mobridge, grandchildren, Kennedy Hohle, Addison Lutz, Jameson Lutz, Parker Getz, Brynlee Getz, brothers and sisters, Lyle (Judy) Lutz of Mobridge, Merle (Linda) Lutz of Mobridge, Inez (Ben) Grismer of Aberdeen, Darlis (Charlie) Smith of California, Neal (Pam) Lutz of Piedmont, SD, Monica (Cliff) Rubens of California and numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Millie Lutz, and his In-laws, Robert and Joan Hintz.
