Obituary

Graveside services for Darrell R. Timm, age 71, of Mobridge, SD and formerly of St. Paul, MN will be 9:30 AM MT, Monday, Nov. 26, 2012 at Black Hills National Cemetery under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge, SD. Military honors will be provided by Sturgis Honor Guard. Darrell passed away Wednesday, October 17, 2012 at Mobridge Regional Hospital, of complications from a stroke suffered in July.

Darrell was born February 5, 1941 in Miltona Township, MN. He attended school in the Miltona area and later in the Denver area. Darrell joined the US Navy at the age of 17 and proudly served on the USS Enterprise, the first nuclear-powered aircraft carrier. It was during his Navy service that he obtained his GED. After being honorably discharged from the Navy, Darrell worked as a ranch hand in Montana. Later occupations included bus driver, many years as a semi-driver, and then in the rail yards in St. Paul, MN.

Darrell was an avid reader and enjoyed discussing politics. He enjoyed fishing, shooting, watching baseball, and cheering on his favorite sports teams, the Oakland A's and the Oakland Raiders.

He will be remembered for his unique personality. We are grateful to him for bringing his family together during his arduous journey this late summer and early fall.

Darrell is survived by his brother Maynard Timm (Grace) of CO, daughter Pamela Cruz (Jim) of CO, daughter Karla Storlien (Craig) of MN, grandsons Daniel Clark Jr. of GA, and Nathan Evans of CO, niece Julie Mesaros (Tim) and family of CO, nephew Jonathan Timm (Jenny) and family of IN, also survived by special family members Will Volk of MN, and Lori Davies and her children Haylie and Devyn of Co, as well as many other relatives and dear friends. Dad's wishes were to be cremated and his remains will be interred at Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis, SD, a celebration of Dad's life will be held at a later date in MN.

Darrell was preceded in death by his parents Fred and Allien.

Memorials may be sent to the American Diabetes Association, the Mobridge Senior Center or donor's choice.
