Funeral services for Daniel Kennedy, 57, of Eagle Butte will be at 10 AM, Tuesday, August 20, 2024, at All Saints Catholic Church in Eagle Butte. Burial will be at 2:30 PM at Black Hills National Cemetery under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge. Visitation will start at 9 AM. Daniel passed away Sunday August 11, 2024, at the Cheyenne River IHS Hospital.

Daniel James Kennedy was born on September 16, 1966, to Rodney and Francine (Miner) Kennedy at IHS Hospital in Eagle Butte. He attended all his educational years at the Cheyenne Eagle Butte School, graduating in 1984. He then attended Western Dakota Technical College in Rapid City, SD, where he earned his welding certificate. Following school, he worked at the Cheyenne Eagle Butte High School in the Ag Shop. He enlisted in the United States Army. He was honorably discharged after he completed his four years. When he came home, he went to work at Bob's Hometown Grocery followed by working as an assistant manager at Dean's Corner Market till its doors closed. He then worked for Subway and also at the Harding Motel & Café as a short order cook till he got ill.

He is survived by his brothers Anthony (Carrie) Kennedy of Aberdeen, Mike Kennedy (Kristy High Elk) of Eagle Butte, sister Jacqueline (Shawn) DeCory of Eagle Butte. Also survived by three nephews and four nieces and his adopted daughter Shanna Smith.

Daniel is preceded in death by his parents, one brother, David Kennedy, his paternal grandparents and maternal grandparents, several aunts and uncles.
