Funeral services for Daniel Has Horns Jr., 71 of McLaughlin, SD will be at 1 PM, Monday, July 11, 2022 at Messiah Church near Little Eagle. Burial will be at the White Mountain Cemetery under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge. Daniel died on Friday July 1, 2022 at his home in McLaughlin.

Daniel Owen Has Horns, Jr., passed away July 1, 2022 at his home in McLaughlin, South Dakota.  He was born November 6, 1950 to Ramona (Little Bear) and Daniel Has Horns, Sr.  He grew up in Little Eagle with his parents and attended grade school there.  In 1972 he went away to school to Roswell, New Mexico. He returned to Little Eagle and met the love of his life Charity Long Feather who he married.  To this union, they had two children; Phyllis and Kevin.  Danny worked for in Fort Yates as a dispatcher for the police department for several years, and loved his job.  He was also employed by the McLaughlin Messenger, where he liked to write and always had a typewriter in front of him.  He thought the world of his kids and grandkids.  He called his sisters everyday to check in on them.

Daniel is survived by his son Kevin, McLaughlin, SD, daughter, Phylis, Bismarck, ND, adopted son Ambrose Brown, sisters, Netty Bastil, Washington, Fern Has Horns, and Mary (LeRoy) White, Little Eagle, SD, brother, Joseph and Carol White Mountain, Sr., McLaughlin, SD, five grandchildren; Jesse Has Horns, Rapid City, Marcus Iron Road, Kimimalee, Mathew, Rhianan, Lansing, Bismarck, ND, all nieces and nephews.

Daniel is preceded in death by his wife, Charity Has Horns, mother, Ramona Has Horns, father, Daniel Has Horns, Sr., uncle, Cyril Has Horns, aunt, Minni Eagle Shield, nieces, Melanie Has Horns, Aldean Fast Horse, and nephew, Michael Has Horns.
