Obituary

Funeral services for Dale Winterberg, 66, of Selby will be at 11 AM, Saturday January 4, 2025, at Kesling Funeral Home in Mobridge. Burial will be at the Fairview Cemetery in Herreid. Visitation will be from 5-7 PM with a prayer service at 7 PM Friday January 3, 2025 at the funeral home.

Dale Dwayne Winterberg passed away on December 23, 2024, at Sanford Medical Center in Bismarck, ND, with his wife at his side.

Dale was born February 21, 1958, at the Linton Hospital. He was the oldest son of Jeanette (Kusler) and Marvin Winterberg. He was later joined by two brothers and a sister. He graduated from Pollock High School in 1976. While in high school Dale loved to run track and cross country. He also enjoyed roller skating in Westfield.

He met the love of his life, Shelly Ackerman, in Herreid in 1977. They were married on October 7, 1978, and were married 46 years. One daughter was born to this union on July 12, 1981.

Dale worked various jobs. After his marriage, he lived in Mobridge and worked at Quenzer Texaco, (later became Johnson Service). In 1989 he moved to Selby to take a job with the City of Selby. His last job was as a night clerk at Shorty's Truck Stop for 14 years. He resided in Selby till his passing.

Dale enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping, especially with his daughter Lori. After his health declined in 2008, he had some very fond memories of hunting with his brother-in-law, Ronnie, even if they did not get anything for several years.

Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Shelly, his daughter, Lori (Frank Fedison) Winterberg, grandchildren, Loren, Anasha, Barrett and Sara, parents, Marvin and Jeanette Winterberg, siblings, Bill Winterberg, Lloyd (Holly) Winterberg, and Connie Johnson, sister-in-law, Karen Bower, brothers-in-law, Kevin Ackerman and Scott (Dawn) Ackerman, and numerous nieces and nephews. He also had some special companions, Ginger (who was his constant companion), Itsy, Freddy, JJ, Peanut, Bandit, Tanner, and Jasper.

Meeting him in heaven will be his grandparents, Bill and Florence Winterberg, Edward and Elizabeth Kusler, sister-in-law, Toni Winterberg, mother and father-in-law, Alvina and Orville Ackerman, brothers-in-law, Ronnie Lebeda and Lloyd Bower, and nephew, Shawn Lebeda.
