Obituary

Our mom, Cynthia Rose Fiddler, passed away September 27, 2015. Mom celebrated life everyday whole heartedly. Never missing a chance to give a hug, a smile, or a shoulder to lean on.

A celebration of her life will be held at 11 AM Friday, October 2, 2015, at St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Ft. Yates, ND. Her burial will be Monday October 5, 2015, at 11 AM at the ND Veterans Cemetery in Mandan. We will receive family and friends for prayer services on Thursday, October 1, 2015, at 5 PM at St. Luke's Episcopal Church.
Mom was born on June 22, 1946, near the mouth of the Moreau River in South Dakota to Joseph and Rebecca (Hates Him) Ducheneaux. Mom was the baby of the girls. There was nothing her brothers and sisters would not do for her.

On June 10, 1965, mom married a handsome soldier, Richard Charles Fiddler. They began their new life together and lived in the Dakotas, Mississippi and California. Eventually adding to their life six adoring children, Jolene Rose, Donna Rae, Richard Charles Jr., Royce Carl, Carla Rochelle and the baby Kerry Roxane.
Our mom was a caring and humble woman, cooking was her specialty. She loved baking. She was known for her awesome homemade apple pies and Christmas cookies. Her dessert recipes are still used at Prairie Knights Casino. In the past mom volunteered her time at St. Luke's food pantry and thrift store. Mom often worried about the less fortunate. Many times giving them whatever she had. Mom loved going for car rides with dad. They traveled to see friends and family from Canada to Mississippi. The two were absolutely in love with each other. A match made in heaven. Mom would call her friends and family on the telephone every day to check on them. Most recently you would see her sitting in her chair being charmed and protected by her beloved dog, Copper. She loved her brown boy.

Our mom was an endearing and true friend. She was generous in faith, hope and love. We will miss her kindness and compassion. We will continue on her legacy she instilled and left us. She was the best grandma ever. Grandma helped raise all of her grandchildren at some point in their lives. She loved getting their phone calls and visits. She always remembered each one on their birthdays.

Our mom is survived by her loving husband of 52 years, Richard, her children, Jolene (Marshall) Samuelson, Donna (Rich) Thomas, Richard (Quana) Fiddler, Royce Fiddler, Carla Fiddler, and Kerry (Michael) Logg, eleven grandsons, seven granddaughters, nine great grandchildren, sister, Irene Hagen and brother, Steven Ducheneaux. She is also survived by many loving friends and relatives who cherished her deeply.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Rebecca Ducheneaux, brothers, Carl, Joe and Owen, sisters, Delma, Angeline, Karen, Celeste, and Bernadine, grandsons, Thomas, Matthew, and Nicholas.
