Graveside services for Curtis Vilhauer age 71 of Herreid will be 10:00 AM Friday, May 12, 2017 at the Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge. Military honors will be provided by American Legion Post #170 of Herreid. Curtis passed away Saturday, April 29, 2017 at the Ipswich Nursing Home. Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge is in charge of arrangements.

Curtis Vilhauer was born July 19, 1945, at Linton, North Dakota to Walter and Eileen (Orth) Vilhauer. He attended school in Mobridge. He enjoyed being on the farm helping out with the chores and playing with his cousins.

Curtis joined the US Army in 1965 and was
honorably discharged in 1967. Following his discharge he moved back to the farm near Herreid. He enjoyed riding his horse in the hill country he had said that he could do that all day.

He worked for the Department of Transportation for the State of Wyoming. Upon retirement, Curtis lived in Herreid, until moving to Eureka. When his health failed he moved into the Ipswich Care and Rehabilitation Center.

Curtis is survived by a daughter, Kim Gassaway, granddaughter, sister, Susan Sellers, brother David Vilhauer.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Debra, numerous aunts and uncles.
