Funeral services for Curtis Red Fox, age 51, of Sioux Falls, will be 2:00 PM CT Wednesday, April 6, 2011 at Elkhorn UCC in Little Eagle. Pastor Norman Blue Coat will be officiating. Burial will be in the Messiah Cemetery rural Little Eagle under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home. Visitation will be one hour prior to services. Mr. Red Fox passed away Thursday, March 31, 2011 at McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls.
Curtis Red Fox was born September 21, 1959 at Little Eagle, SD to Leo and Marie Zelda (Little Bear) Red Fox. He was born and raised in Little Eagle for most of his life. He married LaVonne Leaf on September 9, 1982 in Fort Yates, ND. After marriage he continued living in various places, such as Bismarck and Rapid City. He had worked construction as a laborer and had been living with his daughter Theresa for the past 6 years.
He enjoyed raising his grandchildren very much. He also liked to visit with friends, cook, go to powwows, play cards, and even draw sometimes. Native culture drawings were among his favorite art pieces. Curtis was a very generous person to all.
Curtis is survived by sons Kenny Wells of Minneapolis, MN and Richard Red Fox of Springfield, SD; daughters Theresa (Darrell) White Lightning of Sioux Falls, SD, Trisha Red Fox of Sioux Falls, SD, Kristen Leaf of Little Eagle, SD, and Stephanie (Manuel) Red Bear of Eagle Butte, SD, one brother Richard Red Fox of WI, and 10 grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers, and 2 sisters.
