Obituary
Funeral services for Clifford "Bob" Marshall Jr., 76, of Promise, SD, will be 10:00 AM CDT Saturday, April 2, 2016 at Emmanuel Episcopal Church in Whitehorse. Burial will be St. Catherine's Cemetery in Promise under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge. All night wake will begin at 5PM Friday, April1, 2016 at Emmanuel Episcopal Church. Bob passed away on Friday, March 25, 2016, at Sanford Bismarck Hospital of Bismarck, ND.
Clifford "Bob" Marshall Jr. Zintkala Maza (Iron Bird) was born on August 26, 1939 at the Old Agency, SD to Clifford Marshall Sr. and Amy Violet (Iron Bird) Smith. He was raised by his Grandparents George and Louise (Veo) Iron Bird.
Bob proudly served in the U.S. Navy on the USS Iwo Jima enlisting on Sept. 1, 1960. During his deployment they were involved in Joint Task Force 8, the testing of nuclear bombs off Johnston Island, Hawaii. They were also deployed for special operations in the Mekong Delta region of South Vietnam. He was honorably discharged in Dec. of 1964 with recommendations for reenlistment.
He married Pasty A, Miner on April 20, 1976, to this union was 4 children and 1 adopted daughter. George P. (Mona) of Timber Lake, C.R. (Rebekah) of Mobridge, Miranda of rural Promise, Muriel of Mobridge, Also Al-x Ann of rural Promise, from previous relationships was born Amy Marshall, Newtown, ND, Michon (Mark) Marshall, Timber Lake, SD, Perry Hemminger, Sr. Chamberlain, Amber (Russell) Marshall, Eagle Butte, Danny (Kay) Marshall, Swiftbird, Bob had numerous grandchildren: Al-x Ann, Patrick, Ethan, Cope, Caleb, Lorali, Hunter, Virginia, Keith, Sidney, Jasper, Hudson, Cinnamon, Lewis, Strom, Perry Jr., Michael, Gerald, Kayla, Kelsey, Darcy, Kelli, Kellon, Cameryn, Anders, Reese, Maxtyn, Nylon, Silas, Also numerous Great-Grandchildren.
Bob is survived by his wife Patsy Marshall, children: George, CR, Randi, Pete and Al-x. brothers and sisters, Kenneth Marshall Sr., Sharon Smith, Gloria Smith, Tom Baker Sr., Wayne Looking Back, Mona R. Lawrence, Judy Thompson, Jessi and Ashley Summers, Arliss Keckler, extended brothers and sisters, Robert J. Platt, Ted Harrison, Jr. Blue Coat, Butch Walking Elk, Leon Red Dog, Carla and Carrie Blue Coat, extended sons, Vince Molinari, Kory Annis.
Bob was preceded in death by his grandparents, George and Louise Iron Bird, parents, Clifford Marshall Sr., Amy Violet Smith, 2 children Bobbi Lee and Mathew and 1 grandchild Perry Jr.
