Clayton Anthony Left Hand was born December 22, 1937 to George Left Hand and Mary Jane Poitra-Left Hand in little village of old Kenel, South Dakota, when times were simple. He was born at home and delivered by widwife, Florence Crow Ghost. He was the 9th child out of a family of 12 children.

He grew up in old Kenel where the Missouri now runs through. Clayton married the love of his life the late Faye (Brave Crow) Left Hand on July 17, 1964. Grandpa loved the country life, its where he wanted to raise his five children Carmen, Toby, Delyle, Shannon and his baby girl Clayce Left Hand. Country living was peaceful to Clayton and he didn't mind the duties that came with living in a rural area. He showed his children the way of life of hauling water, chopping wood or just enjoying the outdoors. He was the definition of an old cowboy. Up until his last days he spent a lot of time in his home with his caregiver, best friend whom became like a son to him, Horace Gibbs. They spent time watching old western movies or sometimes you'll even catch them driving to church services on Sunday. But never too far from home. Family was important to Clayton and he cherished that the most. He will be deeply missed by all that knew him.

Clayton worked numerous jobs throughout his life but liked working carpentry and projects that were hands on. Him and his late wife Faye were foster parents and opened their home to many children. He was definitely an all-around family man. He also enjoyed hunting and going fishing with his grandchildren, he loved being in their presence. Being called "Grandpa" was his greatest title and he wore it proud because he was grandpa to many.

Clayton is survived by his daughters Carmen, Shannon, Clayce Left Hand and two sons Delyle Left Hand and Horace Gibbs. Two sisters Elaine St. John and Shirley Poitra. Grandchildren Brandon, Hesston, Aaron, Tiffany, Melinda, Jud, Shawn, Chet, Cyle, Teegan, Layton, Kayton, Fayton, Toby, Jesse, Riley, Kassidy, Riggen, Rhian, Celilia, Wakiyan. Great grandchildren Tahlia Faye, Tanayah, Tayanna, Shawnia, Tatum, Tyla, Teacari, Talon, Taniyah, Taylah, Taysin, Mimi, Trigger, Trey, Taye, Tyree, Draven, Kalila, Eleanor, Kali, Lincoln, Domonic, Camyron.

He was preceded in his death by his father George Left Hand, mother Mary Jane Left Hand, his wife Faye Left Hand, son Toby Lefthand, grandchildren Claybrooke Left Hand, Cody Fischer
