Funeral services for Clara Stoecker, 85, of Mobridge will be at 11 AM, Friday, February 10, 2017, at the First Baptist Church in Mobridge with Pastor Street officiating. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge. Visitation will start at 3 PM Thursday with a prayer service at 7 PM at the funeral home.
Clara Jane Stoecker went home to be with the Lord at the Good Samaritan Center in Selby, SD on February 1, 2017.
Clara was born on June 24th, 1931 to William and Justina (Schweigert) Moser on the Peterson farm south of McIntosh, SD. She was the 7th sibling of 10. She graduated from McIntosh High School in 1949. On June 20th, 1950 she married Milton Stoecker. They made their home on a farm 6 miles northeast of McLaughlin, SD.
Clara worked at the ACS office in McIntosh, as a bookkeeper for the Farmers Union Co-op in McLaughlin, a housekeeper for the Dew Drop Inn in Mahto and a dietary assistant for the Mobridge Care Center.
Clara taught Sunday School, was a member of Christian Women's Organization, a member of the United Methodist Church of McLaughlin and the First Baptist Church of Mobridge. She received the outstanding Associate Jaycette in 1964-1965. In November 1988 she was chosen as Employee of the month at the Mobridge Care Center.
She liked to bake and was a great cook. She enjoyed working in the yard and tending to her flowers. Her favorite book was the Bible. She enjoyed decorating her yard and home for each holiday. She liked doing crafts and playing games such as Aggravation and Rummikub with family, friends and neighbors.
Clara is survived by her children Julie Andersen of Eatonville, WA, Jane (Jim) Nadeau of Florence, AZ, Kim (Ruth) Stoecker and Kevin Stoecker both of Mobridge; grandchildren Sebastian Cruz and Aaron Andersen of WA; great granddaughter Solene Cruz of WA; step grandchildren Landon Heil of WI and Brandon Nadeau of NY; her brothers, Milbert Moser of Rupert, ID and Edwin Moser of Woodburn, OR; and her sisters, Irene Heinrich of Elk Grove, CA, Violet Bronson of Sioux Falls and Shirley Stoecker of Aberdeen.
She was preceded in death by her parents William and Justina Moser and 4 sisters; Lydia Gehring, Helen Schulz, Edna Scholl and Mildred Smith. Step grandchildren Jaden Heil and David Nadeau.
