Obituary

Clara H. Huber, 86, of Herreid passed away July 2, 2010 at the Linton Hospital in Linton, North Dakota.
Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to time of prayer service at 7:30 p.m. Monday, July 5, 2010 at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Herreid. Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at the church. Burial will be in St. Michael's Catholic Cemetery.
She was born Dec, 22, 1923 to Joseph and Eva (Baumgartner) Hartze at the family farm east of Zeeland, ND. She grew up on the family farm. She attended Zeeland High School and graduated in 1942. After high school she attended Dakota Business College in Fargo, ND, after completing accounting and secretarial school she worked in Minneapolis, MN and Chicago, ILL. During World War II she worked in the shipyards as a welder in Portland, OR.
On Dec. 27, 1945 she married Arthur Simon Huber in Portland, They made their home in Portland until Art was discharged from he Merchant Marines in 1947. They moved to Herreid, SD and made their home on the farm east of Herreid. In 1948 they bought a farm three miles southwest of Herreid.
Clara was a member of the St. Michael's Catholic Church and was a member of the Altar Society.
Clara began working at the good Samaritan Center as an aide in 1975, she retired in 1988. In July of 1990 Clara and Art moved into Herreid.
Clara moved into the Good Samaritan Center in Herreid in October of 2007. She had resided there until her death.
Clara enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren, painting, reading, gardening, and time at the river. and her neighborhood birthday club.
She is survived by her four daughters, Yvonne Walsh of Watertown, Elaine Huber of Sioux falls, Rhonda (Allen) Zaug of Watertown, Paulette Huber of Mitchell, four sons; Tom Huber of Terrell, TX, Don Huber of Herreid, Roger Huber of Ethan, and Paul (Gina) Huber of Aberdeen, 25 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Arthur, son David, five brothers, Matthew, Jacob, Francis, Joseph, Michael. three sisters, Katherine Salwei, Christine Czeczok, and Bernadine Kendall.
