Obituary

Funeral services for Clara Bauder- Himrich, age 100, of Selby will at 10:30 AM, Thursday, February 13, 2014 at St. John Lutheran Church in Selby. Burial will be at the Selby Memorial Gardens under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge. Visitation will start at 5 PM with a prayer service at 7 PM Wednesday at the church. Clara passed away Friday, February 7, 2014 at the Good Samaritan Center in Selby.

Clara E. (Wagner) Bauder Himrich was born August 10, 1913 to Julius and Lydia (Himrich) Wagner in Selby, SD. She was baptized and confirmed at St. John Lutheran Church in Selby, SD. In 1917 the family moved 5 miles SW of Akaska, SD. Clara attended country school near Akaska, and graduated from Selby High School in 1933.

On June 13, 1937 she married Arthur Bauder at St. John Lutheran Church in Selby. After their marriage, the couple made their first home in Bowman, ND where Art taught school. In the fall of 1938 they moved to Harrold, and spent the next four years there while Art was the principal of the high school. This is where their daughter, Darleen was born on February 24, 1942. They then moved to McIntosh for a year. In spring of 1943 they moved back to the family farm SE of Selby where they farmed until their retirement in 1978. They continued to reside on the farm until Art passed away on January 4, 1984. Clara then moved to Selby and resided there until 1991.

She married Arthur Himrich August 10, 1991 at St. John Lutheran Church Selby, SD. They resided in Mobridge, SD until October 2003 when they moved to the Good Samaritan Center in Selby, SD Art passed away March 10, 2005. Clara resided there until the time of her death.

Clara was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, the Lutheran Ladies Aid, and spent many years teaching Sunday School. Clara was also a member of an extension club. She spent many hours making scrapbooks and family history books. She enjoyed spending time outside in her garden and working with her flowers. Clara celebrated her 100th birthday August 10th surrounded with family and friends. She was awarded the Centurion Plaque. She enjoyed spending time with her family and attending their many activities.

She is survived by her daughter Darleen (Robert) Zabel Selby; four grandchildren
Karla (Dwight) Wahl, Sioux Falls; Duane (Rose Ann) Zabel, Selby; Steve (Tricia) Zabel, Selby; Sandy (Randy) Bouvette and children, Watertown; ten great-grandchildren, Kasey Wahl, Spencer (Jessica) Wahl, and Kirsten Wahl all of Sioux Falls; Sara Bender, Brookings; Erica Bender, Aberdeen: Dylan Zabel, Dawson Zabel, Miranda Zabel, Meadow Zabel and Cole Zabel all of Selby; One sister in law Tillie Wagner, Bremerton, Washington

She is preceded in death by her parents; Julius and Lydia Wagner, brother Reinhold Wagner, sisters, Esther (Benjamin) Berg and Susie (Arthur) Oster; brother in law and sister in law Erick and Lorraine Holscher: Husband, Arthur Bauder; Husband, Arthur Himrich.
