Charlotte Otterberg of Mobridge passed away on September 27, 2015, at the Golden Living Center in Mobridge. Charlotte Otterberg (Pathmann) was born on November 8, 1918, in Carson, ND, to Charles and Ida Pathmann. She attended grade and high school in Carson. Charlotte graduated from the University of North Dakota in 1940. She taught school in North Dakota for several years and on August 20, 1943, married Mitchel Otterberg in the First Presbyterian Church in Chicago. Mitchel was serving as an officer in the U.S. Navy amphibious forces. Following his discharge at the end of the war the couple moved to Garrison, ND, where Mitchel worked as a pharmacist.
In 1947 Charlotte and Mitchel moved to Mobridge where Mitchel worked for Swartz Drug. In 1950 they bought the drug store in McLaughlin, SD. In 1969 they moved to from McLaughlin to Mobridge where she lived until her death. Charlotte was a lifelong member of Eastern Star, and was a past matron of the McLaughlin chapter. She was also a past member of the Grey Ladies Red Cross Volunteers. She served as a volunteer news reporter for the Mobridge Care Center and visited the residents there for 30 years, it seems only fitting that is where she passed away.
Charlotte loved to read, bake, make jelly and watch the birds and squirrels.
She was preceded in death by Mitchel in 1999 and one brother, Lewellen Pathmann.
Grateful for having shared her life are her son, Michael and daughter-in-law Margaret who reside in Fort Peck, MT; numerous nieces and nephews; and her sisters-in-law, Janice Nelson, Dorothy Pathmann and Loraine Prudhomme.
Memorials to go to the Mobridge Library.
