Funeral services for Char Mettler, 53, of Mobridge will be at 10:30 AM, Monday, October 28, 2024, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Mobridge. Burial will at Greenwood Cemetery under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge. Visitation will start at 4 PM Sunday with a prayer service at 6 PM at the funeral home. Char passed away Saturday, October 19, 2024, at the Sanford Medical Center in Bismarck.

Char was born on Oct 20th, 1970, in Bowdle, SD to Joyce (Vetch) and Bruce Mettler. She spent most of her school years in Selby and Mobridge and graduated from Mobridge High School in May 1989. She then worked at the Mobridge nursing home for 29 years, up until they closed. She held various positions there, but her passion was working as a CNA in the Alzheimer's Unit. She had the patience of a saint and so much compassion and understanding for her patients and their families. After the nursing home closed, she worked as a CNA at the Mobridge Regional Hospital until health complications forced her to go on medical leave in the summer of 2022.

On February 2nd, 2002, Char fulfilled her dream of becoming a mom to her amazing son Brady. She would have walked to the end of the earth and back for him.  They shared so much love for each other.  In 2012, she adopted a Pekingese who Brady renamed Millie. The love they shared for each other spilled over to their love of Millie.

Char enjoyed walking, baking, and spending time with Brady and her family.  Hanging out with family in a swimming pool was also a lifelong favorite.  Nothing could beat snuggling with Millie and her niece dogs Trixie and Mocha.  She also enjoyed her newest hobby of diamond art.

Char is survived by her son Brady Mettler, mom Joyce Mettler, sister Carla Mettler, and family dog Trixie all of Mobridge, SD, brother Chuck and sister-in-law Nikki Mettler, niece Autumn Mettler, niece-dog Izzy, and nephew Zander Mettler all of Watertown, SD, and nephew Jarrett Mettler of Camp Lejeune, NC.

She is preceded in death by her father Bruce, grandparents Reuben, Anna, Kate, and Paul, godparents Jim and Judy, uncles Mike, Thomas, and Willie, and dogs Millie and Mocha.
