Charles A. Stiles, 79, of Mobridge passed away Friday, January 29, 2016, at the Mobridge Regional Hospital. Memorial services will be at 10:30, Saturday, March 5, 2016 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Mobridge.

Charles Allen Stiles was born on April 25, 1936 in Cherokee, Iowa, to Edgar and Glee (Druyor) Stiles. He graduated from Cherokee High School 1954. He went on to attend the University of South Dakota where he graduated in 1958. While at USD he was a member of Phi Delta Theta, The Strollers, and ROTC. Served in the US Army for six months following graduation.

Shortly after marriage, Chuck and Ione moved to Mobridge, SD in 1959 where Chuck accepted a position with the First National Bank. He served as a financial officer of the bank for 19 years. Later he accepted a position as the Assistant Administrator for the Mobridge Community Hospital. In 1983, he and Ione Stiles purchased the Stiles Bottle Shop, which they owned and operated for more than 30 years.

During his life in Mobridge, Charles was a member of a number of civic and community organizations, including: The Mobridge Jaycees and the Mobridge Chamber of Commerce. He was particularly proud of his service on the A.H. Brown Public Library Board which he served on for 25 years. Charles was an elected member of the Mobridge Public School Board and served as President of the board.

He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and sang in the choir for many years. He also served as Treasurer of the Men of Trinity.

Chuck was an avid reader with a particular interest in history. He enjoyed following the Minnesota Vikings, playing gin rummy with friends, all while appreciating the wide-open and relaxed environment of the Mobridge area.

Chuck is survived by his loving wife: Ione Jacobsen Stiles, Mobridge, SD. Also grateful for having shared his life are his three sons: Scott Charles Stiles (wife-Kelly), Garden Grove, CA

He was preceded in death by, his parents, Edgar and Glee Stiles, parents-in-law, Norman and Florence Jacobsen and brother-in-law, John Wiebe.
