Memorial services for Charles R. Sanger, 76, of Mobridge, will be at 10:30 AM on Saturday, January 24, 2026, at Kesling Funeral Home in Mobridge. Chuck passed away on December 7, 2025, at his home in Mobridge.

Chuck was born on October 13, 1949 in Redfield. Chuck was the third child of five born to Ray and Shirley (Stoner) Sanger from Orient, SD. He spent his childhood on the family farm west of Rockham, S.D.  He and his family were very active in 4-H. When he was fourteen the family moved to Redfield. Chuck may have left the farm, but he remained a farmer and rancher at heart his entire life.

He graduated from Redfield High School in 1967. Chuck and Ray did a wide variety of jobs over the next several years including tree trimming, house painting, and snow removal. In 1971 he married Beverly Diane Hargens, thus continuing the family tradition of marrying a girl from the Orient hills. Son Travis was born in 1972. Eventually Chuck started driving truck long distance while Diane worked as a hair stylist in Redfield. Chuck and Diane both became insurance agents, moving to Rapid City, Wessington and Mobridge. Chuck returned to trucking plus doing ranch work for various ranches in the Mobridge area. Chuck was always a very social person and had a huge number of friends.  Besides his love of ranching and trucking, he liked playing cards and board games, fishing, gardening, canning and cooking, and just hanging out with friends, talking, telling jokes, and maybe a few tall tales.

Chuck is survived by his wife, Diane, son Travis, daughter-in-law Heidi, grandchildren Annika, Emily and Kaeden, sisters June Ohm and Beverly Letsche, sisters-in-law Zenaida Sanger, Linda Swenson, Carol Baloun and Dodie Geffre, brother-in-law Eddie Hargens,
and a plethora of three generations of nieces and nephews.

Chuck was preceded in death by his parents Ray and Shirley Sanger, his parents-in-law Ed and Charleen Hargens, his sister Janice Davies, and brother, Randy Sanger.

A memorial service in Rockham is planned for spring of 2026.

He also requested a party for his friends which will be held after the holidays.
