Obituary

Charles J. Mulloy Jr., 87, of Timber Lake, SD, died at the Golden Living Center in Mobridge on December 7, 2015.

Mass of Christian Burial was held on Saturday, December 12, 2015 at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Timber Lake with Fr. Michel Mulloy and Fr. Bryan Sorenson officiating. Burial will be in the Timber Lake Cemetery under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge.
Charles was born on March 2, 1928 at Humboldt, SD, the fifth child of Charles Sr. and Rose Mulloy. He graduated from high school at St. Mary's in Salem, SD, in 1946.

Charles married the love of his life, Charlotte, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Salem on September 28, 1948. After several moves, the Mulloys came to Timber Lake with their four young daughters in the spring of 1956. Six more children joined the family.
Charlie worked with his dad and brothers in a dirt moving/dam construction business until the mid -1960's at which time he and Charlotte purchased the former Jimmy McGuire place north of Timber Lake and started farming and milking cows. Their son, Jim and his wife Joyce live on this place today.

From 1970 to 1978 Charlie served as field man of ASCS. He later became CED for Dewey County ASCS in 1978, serving in this position until spring of 1990, when he retired and he and Charlotte moved to the Keystone area. Charlie continued living at Keystone after Charlotte's death in May of 2003 until May of 2008. At that time he moved back to Timber Lake ad resided at the Timber Lake Manor until spring of 2013. The balance of his life he lived at GLC in Mobridge, SD.

Charlie will long be remembered by his family for his devotion to his wife, Charlotte and family, and his deep Catholic faith. He enjoyed family get togethers and in his later years developed a fondness for camping. Charlie owned and traded several campers and Ford Ranger pickups in his later years. Charles and Charlotte were active members of the Holy Cross Church for many years followed by the practice of their faith at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church in Keystone.

Charles is survived by seven daughters and two sons and their spouses - Kay (Tom) Osborne of St. Peter, MN; Colleen (Jerry) Keller of Timber Lake, Connie Haack both of Timber Lake, Renee (Merle) Leibel of Glencross, Tom (Deana) Mulloy of Keystone, SD; Yvonne (Todd) Campbell of Lemmon; Maureen (Bobby) Hanzlik of Mud Butte; Melinda (Andy) Sanders of Simpsonville, SC; and Jim (Joyce) Mulloy also of Timber Lake, 22 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren; his brother, Cletus Mulloy of Mobridge, SD, and many friends and relatives.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife, Charlotte; an infant son (their 10th child); brothers, Silvin and Flavian, and sisters, Yvonne and Dolores.

Pallbearers were his nine children and honorary pallbearers were his wife, Charlotte and baby boy.

Music was provided by Holy Cross Choir directed by Sheila Schweitzer with accompaniment by Cheryl Lawrence. A memorial has been established to the Holy Cross Building Project.
