Funeral service for Charlene Block age 70 of Gillette, WY formerly of McLaughlin, SD, will be at 10:30 AM, MT, Friday, June 21, 2019, at Redeemer Lutheran Church in McLaughlin. Burial will be at the Selfridge Cemetery under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge. Visitation will start at 6 PM, CT, Thursday, at Kesling Funeral Home with a prayer service at 7 PM, CT. Charlene passed away Wednesday, June 12, 2019 at Close to Home Hospice Hospitality House in Gillette, WY.

Charlene Block, 70, of Gillette, Wyoming, went to be with the Lord, June 12, 2019, at Campbell County Close to Home Hospice Hospitality House surrounded by family and friends.

She was born December 21, 1948 in Bismarck, North Dakota, the daughter of the late Ruby and George Walker. She was the second oldest of 18 siblings. She graduated from Selfridge High School, Selfridge ND in 1968.

On June 7, 1968, she married Erick Block Jr., who preceded her in death on July 22, 1998. They lived together in McLaughlin, SD for 30 years and raised their 3 children. Charlene loved gardening and anything to do with plants and flowers. She had a wonderful green thumb. She also loved to fish, cook, can, bake, travel and play UNO. She also loved loud country or gospel music! She loved visiting her brothers and sisters and having them visit her as well.

She was employed by Head Start for many years in McLaughlin, SD. After Erick passed she moved to Gillette,Wy to be close to her son Ron and her siblings who lived there as well. She worked for Albertsons in Gillette, Wy until she became her mothers' full time caregiver who passed in 2013.

She is survived by her two children Major Travis Block, his spouse Leah and their two children Alexys and Alexandra of Copperas Cove, Tx and Charity (Block) Buer, her spouse Major Daniel Buer and their two children Ava and Lincoln of Woodbridge, Va. She is also survived by brothers and sisters, Charlotte(Clem) Rohrich, Gerald (Spring) Walker, Melvin Walker, Myron Walker, Maynard (Nora) Walker, Corla (Sidney) Weigel, Rodney Walker, Miles (Vanessa) Walker, Michael Walker, Cathy (Larry) Ballinger, Merle Walker, Matthew (Laurie) Walker, Marvin (Shelly) Walker, Cheryl Feist, and Colleen (Tony) Bianchi and several nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband Erick Block Jr., daughters Colette and Tonya Block, her son Ronald Block, her parents George and Ruby Walker and her brothers Marlin and Martin Walker.
