Cathleen Sopkowiak, 62, Pollock passed away Friday, December 29, 2023, at the Mobridge Regional Hospital. Arrangements are pending with Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge.

Cathleen Sopkowiak was born August 16th,1961, in St Cloud, Minnesota to William Cairns and Rita Cairns (Holka). She is a graduate of Sauk Rapids High School. She married Andrew Sopkowiak in 1987. They lived most of their life in Royalton, Minnesota. Later they separated and years later he passed away. Cathy worked at Jack Frost in St Cloud, Minnesota for many years. There, she went to chicken barns to vaccinate and debeak the newborn chickens. She also worked at many bars as a bartender. Later in life, she met Larry Tarnowski. She was with Larry until her passing. They have been together for 20 years. They moved to South Dakota in 2011. There she worked at Herreid school district as a kitchen helper. She loved working with the children and would give them treats for their birthday. She loved to go camping, fishing and liked going to many National Parks. She loved being outside. Cathy is survived by her siblings Robin (Steve) Wollak of Rice, Minnesota, Connie Popp of Rice, Minnesota, Chris Cairns of St Cloud, Minnesota, Mike (Dorothy) Cairns of Little Falls, Minnesota, Barb (Jim Reed) of Rice, Minnesota. Cathy had 6 nephews and 3 nieces. Cathy was preceded in death by her parents William and Rita Cairns, husband Andrew Sopkowiak, brother Guy Cairns, son Billy Sopkowiak and niece Theresa Cairns.
