Mass of Christian Burial for Catherine Traxinger, 89, of Beulah and formerly of McLaughlin will be at 2 PM, MT, Monday, June 1, 2020 at St. Philomena Catholic Church in Selfridge. Burial will be at 2 PM, MT, Tuesday at Black Hills National Cemetery under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge. Visitation will start at 12 PM MT Monday at the church. Catherine passed away peacefully Monday, May 25, 2020, at the Knife River Care Center in Beulah, ND.
Catherine Traxinger was born in Selfridge, ND, on February 25, 1931, the 6 th of 8 children of John and Theresa (Fischer) Klein. Catherine was raised and educated in Selfridge, ND.
On September 25, 1950, Catherine married Bernard Traxinger. Together they had three children. Catherine worked at the local grocery store 30 plus years until she retired. She was well known and respected in the community. Catherine loved and supported McLaughlin. Catherine was very active in her Catholic Faith. She served on the Altar Society for many years as a secretary and treasurer. She was an honorary Altar Society member. Catherine was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post 121.
Catherine loved her flowers and gardening. She loved to crochet and did a wonderful job. We all have doilies and pot holders to prove it. Mom spent a lot of time playing cards at the senior center. Everyone wanted her as a card partner. Most of all she loved her family. Especially her grandchildren.
Catherine is survived by son Bryant (Marlene), McLaughlin, daughter Melody, Beulah, daughter in law Janey Traxinger (Darell), Trenton, ND, 13 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren, 5 great-great grandchildren, brother, Tony (Julie) of Mandan, and sister, Peggy, Bismarck, and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Theresa Klein, Selfridge, ND, 3 brothers, Adam, Joe and Andy, 2 sisters, Frances and Maggy, husband, Bernard and son, Darell.
In lieu of flower the family requests that memorials be made to St. Bernard's Catholic Church, McLaughlin, SD, or to the McLaughlin Senior Center, McLaughlin, SD.
