Cassandra Kaye Crowshoe, 36, of Timber Lake, South Dakota, passed away on December 23, 2025. She was born on October 14, 1989, in Sheridan, Wyoming.

Cassandra was a bright light in the lives of all who knew her. She excelled academically at Tiospaye Topa and Timber Lake High School in South Dakota, where she received the academic achievement award in 2008, from Senator Rounds. Her intelligence and dedication shone through. A talented singer with a beautiful voice, Cassandra also had a passion for doing nails, makeup, and dance. Her creativity and artistic spirit touched everyone around her.

Cassandra worked at Lakota Cash and spent time living in Kankakee, Illinois. Most recently, she lived in Timber Lake with her beloved grandmother, Mary Ann On The Tree.

As the eldest grandchild of Karen Miller, Cassandra was affectionately known as "Mama Cass" by her brothers and cousins, who looked up to her, loved her cooking, and cherished the care she provided. One of her greatest joys was being an aunt to her nieces and nephews: Dante, Dayson, Harleigh, Desmond, Paxson, Weston, Eleina, Ariyani, Cianna, Jesenya, and Talia. She loved them deeply and treasured every moment with them. She also loved her stepchildren dearly.

Cassandra was preceded in death by her mother, Anna-Sophia Winneshiek; her grandmother, Karen Miller, grandmother Linda Merchant; and her cousin, Khan Little Light.

She is survived by her father, Todd Knudson; her brothers, Nick and Tyler Gutierrez, sister Jessica Rude; her aunt, Jessica Crowshoe; her uncle, Tyrone Crowshoe, uncle Justin Feyereisen, and uncle Steve Bergiher; her grandmother, Mary Ann On The Tree; her cousins, Devon Crowshoe, Delisa Williams, Leilla Winneshiek, Noah Winneshiek, and Jayden Iron Rope; her nieces and nephews; her stepchildren; and many other family members and friends who will miss her dearly.

Cassandra's warmth, generosity, and love will be remembered by all who knew her. She leaves behind a legacy of care, creativity, and devotion to her family. All drum groups and singers welcome.
