Memorial services for Caroline Filler, 78, of Mobridge will be 2:00 PM, Saturday, June 15, 2019 at Kesling Funeral Home. Inurnment will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Mobridge under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge. Memorial visitation will begin at 12:00 PM on Saturday. Caroline passed away peacefully surrounded by her children. Sunday June 9, 2019 at Bella Vista Nursing Home in Rapid City.

Caroline Filler was born June 21, 1940 in Orrin, North Dakota on the family farm to John and Selma (Wagner) Bachmeier, she was the sixth of seven children. She grew up on her parent's farm and attended country school.

On October 12, 1957, she married her life-long husband, James Filler in Blumenfeld, ND and they were married for 46 years. In 1959, they relocated to Pierre, SD where James took a job working on the construction of Oahe Dam, and they started a family. Caroline was a loving wife and mother to six children: Brenda (Larry) Grenz, Phillip, SD; Bryant (Lori) Filler, Baltic, SD; Neil Filler, Mobridge, SD; Myron Filler (deceased 9/16/08); Kenny Filler, Rapid City, SD; Noreen (Don) Sauer, Mobridge, SD.

A little bakery went up for sale in Selby, SD in 1964 and Filler's Bakery was established. In 1982 the bakery was moved to Mobridge, SD where through hard work and dedication, the successful family business grew. Caroline enjoyed many coffee breaks with her family and friends and was fluent in German. While her strong German heritage meant she didn't show a lot of emotion, she truly had a heart of gold.

When she wasn't helping in the bakery she could be found enjoying her favorite hobbies, including sewing, crocheting, and spending time with her 12 grandchildren. She also relished in time outdoors and especially enjoyed boating at the lake, camping, or going to the SD State Fair.

Grateful for having shared her life are her children, 12 grandchildren: Trevor (Amanda) Grenz, Brady Grenz, Jenessa (Dylan) Grau, Tara (Tyler) Koele, Bronson Filler, Hilary Filler, Haley (Josh) Harvey, Hudson Filler, Eric (Morgan) Filler, Sam (Amanda) Sauer, Max (Josie) Sauer, and Allie Sauer. Also eight great- grandchildren, one brother: Augustine (Betty) Bachmeier and sister-in -laws: Gamma Bachmeier, Jennie Bachmeier, Claudia Bachmeier and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Caroline was preceded in death by her husband James of 46 years, her parents, one son: Myron and five brothers: Anton, George, Valentine, Lawrence and Richard.
