Obituary
Funeral services for Carol Maxon, age 52 of Eagle Butte, will be at 10 AM MT, Tuesday at the All Saints Catholic Church in Eagle Butte. Burial will be in St. Basil's Cemetery in Ridgeview under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge. Visitation will be at 6 PM MT with a prayer service at 7 PM MT at the church Monday. Carol passed away July 8, 2010 at St. Alexis Hospital in Bismarck, ND.
Carol Mae (Garreaux) Maxon was born on August 15, 1957 in Pierre, SD to Emaline LeBeau Moran and the late Manson Garreaux. Carol was the middle child of three sisters. She grew up and attended school in McLaughlin. Wayne and Carol married October 18, 1985 at St. Bernard's Catholic Church in McLaughlin and continued their life in McLaughlin with Wayne continuing his ranching business. Carol was a stay at home mother raising her children in McLaughlin until she decided to return to school. Carol got her GED and attended college at Sitting Bull College. Later, she transferred to Si Tanka University in Eagle Butte and earned her Bachelors degree in Education. Carol taught Elementary School in McLaughlin and Eagle Butte. She spent her remaining years at the CRST Head Start. In her spare time Carol enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, camping trips, her children sports events, and most of all SHOPPING!!
Carol is survived by her husband Wayne Maxon of McLaughlin, mother Emaline (Ed) Moran of McLaughlin, children Shawn Gerreaux of Aberdeen, Jeff Maxon of Lake Havasu, AZ, Tyson Maxon of Bismarck, Rushael (Ryan) Vrooman of Eagle Butte, and Tiara Maxon of McLaughlin, grandchildren Halle Mae, Ralphine Dale, Maiace Jean, and Jay Andrew Vrooman of Eagle Butte, sisters Linda (George) Bartlet of Bemioji, MN, Margaret (Bill) Gunville of Eagle Butte, two very special nephews Austin and Winston Gunville of Eagle Butte and Valen Hughte, niece Cody (Kevin) Spears, Kevin Jr., Morgan, and Kal Spears.
She is preceded in death by her father Manson Garreaux, Milo and Charolette Maxon Jr., and grandparents.
Casketbearers will be Steve Garreaux, Ray Maxon, Nick Houston, Austin Gunville, Winston Gunville, Russell Maxon, and Charlie Marshall.
