Mass of Christian Burial for Carol Mauck, age 70, of Mobridge will be at 10:30 AM Saturday, November 5, 2011 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Mobridge. Carol passed away Sunday, October 30, 2011 at the Golden Living Center in Mobridge. Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge is in charge of arrangements.
Carol Marie Nelson Mauck was born on December 14, 1940 to Bernard and Margaret (Weinzirl) Nelson in Redwood City, CA. Carol and her family moved to Mobridge in 1947. Carol graduated from Mobridge High School in 1958. She loved the chorus, the band and being a majorette. In 1963 Carol moved to Seattle, WA. She married Elmer (Tom) Mauck on February 8, 1964 in Seattle. She then began working as a surgical technician for Cabrini Hospital and Swedish Hospital working the last ten years for the eye specialists, Vitreo Retinal Associates. She loved her work and was excellent at it. In 2000 her husband Tom passed away. When she retired in 2007 she moved with her daughter and grandchildren and miniature pincher back to Mobridge where she was raised.
Carol was happy to be back home so she could fish and enjoy being outdoors, having a garden and spending time with her grandkids. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, and friend. In her earlier years Carol loved to ice skate and was a wonderful artist. She also loved bowling, horse racing, pinochle, cribbage, and loved watching sporting events on TV such a tennis, baseball and of course the horse racing events. Her real passions were fishing and cooking. Some of her favorite foods were sour cream raisin pie and cheesecake. Carol's favorite singer was Glenn Campbell. She loved listening to his music. Carol joined the Woman of the Moose shortly after moving back. Within a year or two she became the Senior Regent and worked hard at all the events. She made several good friends through her Moose activities. Occasionally she would drive up the hill to the casino where she loved playing the slot machines. Carol was also a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church.
Carol is survived by her daughter, Lynn Grauman of Mobridge, two grandsons, Zachary and Tristan Grauman both of Mobridge, and their father, Bryan, brother, Jerome (Sandy) Nelson of Lincoln, CA, sister, Beverly (Richard) Krushenisky of Cozad, NE and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Tom, brother and sister-in-law, Douglas and Lilly Nelson and a niece, Carrie Lee Krushenisky.
