Obituary

Byron Bull Bear, 66, of Bismarck, formerly of Cannonball, passed away Monday, November 27, 2023, at Sanford Medical Center in Bismarck. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 5, 2023, at 1:00 pm at St. James Episcopal Church in Cannonball, ND. Interment under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home will be held at the church Cemetery in Cannonball. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 11:00 am until the time of the service at the church.

Byron E. Bull Bear Sr. was born on May 15, 1957, in Fort Yates, ND to Leo and Stella (Red Water) Bull Bear Jr. He was raised in Cannonball, ND attended Cannonball High Elementary and then graduated from Solen High School in 1975. He graduated from UTTC with a degree in Mechanics.

Byron met the love of his life, Thelma Long Chase and they were married on September 24th, 1981, from this marriage they had 3 children, Priscilla Bull Bear, Byron Bull Bear Jr. and Brian Bull Bear. He raised Christina Stone, Allison Blacklance, Fawn Bird, Lee Long Chase, as his own. They made their home in Bismarck, ND.

Byron had many various jobs. He worked maintenance at Holiday Inn in         Bismarck, ND for many years then became a caregiver of his wife,

He loved going to bingo with his wife, enjoyed playing cards, going to rodeos, working on cars. He loved watching his Vikings Football team play. Watching movies and listening to country music, playing horseshoes and attending church at St. Georges in Bismarck, ND.

Byron was a very kindhearted man, who loved visiting with family and friends, and spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was always there when someone needed his help. If someone had no place to go, he welcomed them with a place to stay.

Byron is survived by his children; Christina (Christopher, Sr.) Stone, Priscilla Bull Bear, Byron Bull Bear Jr, Brian Bull Bear. all of Bismarck, ND. Many precious Grandchildren; Carmen Eagle Boy, Carrie Blacklance, Marshall Blacklance, Jr.  II, Christian "Bones" Good House, Christopher "Biggie" Stone, Jr. II, Christine "Tine Tone" Stone, Christin "Tubby Booboo" Stone, Christopher "TJ" Stone III, Josie Bull Bear, Octavian "Ocman" Bull Bear, Lakotah Bull Bear, Mia Bull Bear, Bree Bull Bear, Jaecee Bull Bear, Brianna Bull Bear, Great-Grandchildren; Ambrose "AJ" Eagle Boy. Michaela Eagle Boy, Christopher "CJ" Little Thunder-Stone. Sisters, Lora Lee Kaplan, Fargo, ND. Irene (Robert) Bull Bear, Moorhead, MN. Brother Allen Bull Bear Sr, Moorhead, MN. 'Auntie' Denise Bull Bear, Bismarck, ND, 'Auntie' Delores Eisenbarth, Oregon. Many dear nieces, nephews and cousins.

Waiting for Byron in the Spirit World is his wife Thelma Bull Bear, daughter Angel Bull Bear. His parents, sisters Karen Bull Bear, Mary Lou Bull Bear, Juliet Bull Bear, Eunice Bull Bear and Leola Bull Bear. Brother Glen Bull Bear. Aunts Delia White Eagle. Diane Ponga and Lorraine Stuckle. Uncles Marvin, Michael, Joseph, and Dominic Red Water. Stepchildren, Alison Black Lance, Fawn Two Horses, Lee Long Chase. Sister in laws Kathleen Long Chase, Theola Long Chase, Susie Gagnon, Brother in laws, Henry Long Chase Sr, Doug Long Chase and Paul Long Chase. Numerous nieces and nephews.
