Funeral services for Bob O. Sage-Chase 80, of Selby, SD and formerly of the Isabel area will be Thursday at 10:30 AM at the Kesling Funeral Home in Mobridge. Burial will be in the Hills view Cemetery in Isabel under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge. Visitation will be Wednesday fro 5 to 8 pm at the funeral home. Mr. Chase passed away December 15, 2014 at the Selby Good Samaritan Center in Selby, SD.
Bobbie Osborne Chase was born near Isabel, SD February 11, 1934 to Walter and Bernice (Peterson) Chase. He received his early education in rural school. Bob then found work as a ranch hand on the old Harry Bickel Ranch north of Isabel, it was while working here that he got the nickname "Buffalo Bob" he did this for a few years before entering the US Army in 1952. Bob was discharged from the army early for medical problems and returned to Isabel. He found work again as a ranch hand for Joe and Emerson Chase in Mandaree, ND. It was also around this time that he began traveling the rodeo circuit riding bareback bucking horses and eventually becoming a rough stock pick up man for Emerson Chase's rodeo Co. Later he went to work for Doug Pollock as his ranch foreman on the Ft. Berthold Reservation In 1957 Bob met and married Inez Lone Bear and to this union eight children were born. He then owned his own ranch near Mandaree for a number of years. Later Bob divorced Inez and in 1983 he married Lydia Sage.
Bob was a strong believer in education and later in life returned to school and got his GED and even continued his education to get his four year degree from the University of Mary in Bismarck, ND. Bob also assisted with classes at the Ft. Berthold Community College in New Town, ND.
As Bob's health began to fail he moved the Selby Good Samaritan Center were he has since resided.
He is survived by his children Joe (Kashie) Chase, Bobby Chase, Delmar (Theresa) Chase, Bertrille (Dennis) Fox, Tione (Brent) Tveter all of New Town, ND Alan "Tubby" (Laurie) Chase of Parshall, ND and Bonnie (Claude) Danks of Hazen, ND. Brothers and sisters Wayne (Elsie) Chase Of Rapid City, SD, Jan (Bob) Linde of Custer, SD, Jack (Sofie) Chase of Alamogordo, NM, Betty Yuly of Mobridge, SD, Gladys (Ervin) Knodel Spearfish, SD, Peggy (Don) Waddell of Mobridge, SD, Jerry (Carman) Chase of Mobridge, SD and Marcie Hart of Solen, ND, 14 grandchildren 3 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by both of his wives, his parents, son Milton in 1965, grandson Adam Chase, granddaughter Emerald Danks and sister Carol Fuhrer.
