Robert "Bob" A. Bohlander passed away Thursday, July 12, 2012 on the prairie southwest of Mobridge doing what he loved. Bob was born March 27, 1947 to Alfred and Mary (Kingery) Bohlander in Coos Bay, OR. When he was three months old they moved back to Glenham, SD where he attended school, graduating from Glenham High School in 1965. He will always be a Glenham Screaming Eagle. In January 1969, Bob married Shela Fredrickson in Aberdeen. They lived there until he graduated from Northern State in May of 1969 after which they moved to a farm north of Glenham. For two years, Bob taught English in Glenham until deciding to pursue his dream of farming and ranching full time. Bob and Shela welcomed Jonathon Robert in July of 1970, Christopher Charles in August of 1974, and Sarah Lynn in February of 1978.
Bob loved his family, friends, and life in "God's Country", which was evident in the way he spent every day. Everyone waited to hear what might he might say next as he was known for his quick wit and sense of humor. He was happiest in conversation with friends-he thought of everyone as a friend and made each friend feel special. He considered himself prosperous when he had tall grass and many friends. Bob was a very prosperous man.
Bob is survived by his wife, Shela; son, Jonathan (Jennifer) Bohlander of Topeka, KS; son, Christopher (Barbara) Bohlander of Mobridge, SD; daughter, Sarah (Gage) Mollman of Rapid City, SD; five grandchildren: Emma (Jon), Eli and Sylvia (Chris), and Ezra and Eleanor (Sarah); and brothers Benjamin Bohlander of Aberdeen, SD and Joseph Dare Bohlander of Littleton, CO.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents Alfred and Mary Bohlander and sister Judy Jachim.
In lieu of flowers, memorials will be given to the Mobridge-Pollock basketball program due to Bob's love of high school basketball.
