Funeral service for Blaine Spotted Horse, 63, of Little Eagle will be Friday, January 25, 2013 at 11AMCT at Blue Gym in Little Eagle. Visitation will be Thursday from 7 PM to Midnight at the Blue Gym. Burial will be at the Messiah UCC Cemetery rural Little Eagle. Military honors will be provided by Little Eagle American Legion Post 239. Mr. Spotted Horse passed away Saturday, January 19, 2013 at Sanford Medical Center in Bismarck.
Blaine Allen Spotted Horse was born on May 3, 1949 in Little Eagle, SD to Brent Long Chase and Hazel Spotted Horse. Blaine attended school in Little Eagle, SD until the 8th grade, he then attended High School in Fort Yates, ND were he graduated. After graduation he joined the Army in 1967 until 1969 and was a Vietnam Veteran. He was with the Battery C 7th Bn 18th Arty 197th as a Artillery Crewman, he received National Defense Medal, Vietnam Service Medal w/2Bronze Stars, Vietnam Campaign Medal, army Commendation Medal. In 1969 he married Deborah Giroux. He was married to Ernestine Antelope for 36 years. In 1987 he had a heart transplant. He worked at Veterans Industries and Standing Rock Sioux Tribe.
Blaine enjoyed going to the Casino, playing bingo and watching his favorite football team Cleveland Browns. He loved spending time with his children and grand children.
Blaine is survived by children; Ken (Lorraine) Spotted Hose, Sr., Dawn (Jerrah) Spotted Horse, Bernadette (Tom) Spotted Horse, Lenore God Elk, Roxanne Spotted Horse, Bruce Archambault, adopted children; Toni Eagleman and Terry Lee Obago, Lenore (Joe) God Elk, Robyn Black Cloud, Sisters; Ann Long Chase, Jackie (Scott) Brown Otter, Virginia (Richard) Long Feather, Rose (John) Chase, Roxanne (James) Stoneman, Blanche Lawrence, brothers, Lambert (Ricki) Martinez, Sr., Cody Long Chase, Samuel Long Chase, Jr., Dave West, Dennis Spotted Horse, Whitney Spotted Horse, 27 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, grandsons; Ken Spotted Horse, Jr., Drake Brown Otter granddaughter; Autumn Taken Alive and Aunt Myra Spotted Horse Perkins.
