Funeral services for Bert C. Lafferty Jr. 76, of Big Bend, SD will be 11:00 AM Saturday, January 13, 2018 at St. John's Episcopal Church in Eagle Butte. Family and friends are asked to meet at 4-mile junction at 4:00 PM on Thursday, January 11, 2018 to proceed to the church for a 2-night wake. Bert passed away Sunday, January 7, 2018 at the Rapid City Regional Hospital. Arrangements are entrusted with Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge.

Bert C. Lafferty Jr. "Buzzy" was born on August 17, 1941 to Bert Sr. and Julia (Grey Bear) Lafferty at the Old Cheyenne Agency and this is where dad grew up and went to school until the 8 ^th grade. From then until 1967-1968 he was sowing his wild oats, having fun with friends and family.

He met the love of his life "Karen Gravatt: Together they raised 10 children. They were married and traveled a lot throughout the years. As the kids got older, they moved to Eagle Butte, Swiftbird, Pierre and they finally retired in Big Bend, SD. In 1994 they adopted a son by the name of Whitehorse.

Buzzy worked at many places doing many different trades like an electrician in Eagle Butte, Social worker at Red Horse Lodge in Fort Thompson, a Youth Director in Big Bend, then a farm hand at Bower's Distillery where he retired in 2013/2014.

Buzzy and Karen lived out the rest of their days in "the Pocket" in Big Bend, SD, where they enjoyed spending time with their children, grandchildren and great-grandkids. This is where we all felt loved, safe and always left with full bellies.

Buzzy is survived by his kids, Ivan (Sandy) Gravatt of Pierre, SD, Darin (Julie) Gravatt of Pierre, SD, Art (Donna) Lafferty, Polson, MT, John (DeAnn) Lafferty of LaPlante, SD, Shannon (Josh) Monson Pierre, SD, Bert (Twila) Lafferty of Pierre, SD, Rocky (Rosalie) Lafferty of Grand Junction, CO., LuAnn (Karlton) Lafferty-Haynes of Pierre, SD, Jerry Bad Horse, Lower Brule, SD, Garrett Bad Horse of Pierre, SD, Whitehorse (Jennifer) Ducharme of Pierre, SD 28 grandchildren 16 great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, friends and family.

Buzzy was preceded in death by his mom and dad Bert C. Lafferty and Julia Pheobe Grey Bear, his wife Karen Lafferty, his sisters, Florence, Belle Marie, Mary Lou, Crystal and Margie, his brothers, Charlie "Nibs", Art, Walter "Pike" Dickens, Douglas and son "Baby Joe".
